Akicita Federal is hiring Primary Care Physicians to deliver comprehensive outpatient medical care to our nation's Veterans through the VA Providence Health Care System's Hyannis Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Hyannis, MA. This is an opportunity to make a direct, meaningful impact on Veteran health outcomes in a community clinical setting, with two full-time positions available beginning September 2026.
- Provide primary and preventive care services to a panel of Veteran patients at the Hyannis CBOC, managing acute and chronic conditions across the full spectrum of adult medicine
- Diagnose, treat, and develop individualized care plans in accordance with VA clinical guidelines and evidence-based medicine standards
- Coordinate referrals and care transitions to specialty services, behavioral health, and community providers as clinically appropriate
- Document all patient encounters accurately and thoroughly within the VA's electronic health record system in a timely manner
- Participate in patient care huddles, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives alongside nursing, social work, and administrative staff
- Communicate proactively with patients regarding test results, medication management, and follow-up care plans
- Adhere to all VA patient privacy, information security, and data handling policies when accessing or managing Veteran health information
- M-F; 8a-4:30p; No weekends, no holidays.
- Patient volume: 10-15 per day
$405,600 - $416,000 a year
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
- Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine - must be valid and in good standing
- Board certification or board eligibility in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or a closely related primary care specialty
- Demonstrated clinical experience in a primary care or outpatient setting
- Ability to successfully complete VA background investigation and personnel vetting/credentialing requirements prior to start
- Proficiency in electronic health record documentation and standard clinical workflow tools
What sets candidates apart:
- Prior clinical experience serving Veterans, active duty service members, or military-affiliated patient populations
- Familiarity with the VA healthcare system, VA-specific EHR platforms (such as VistA or Oracle Health/Cerner), or VA clinical protocols
- Experience practicing in a community-based outpatient or federally qualified health center (FQHC) environment
- Strong background in chronic disease management, preventive care, and care coordination within a team-based care model
- Established ties to the Cape Cod or South Shore Massachusetts community, or demonstrated commitment to underserved patient populations
