Full Job Description
Barbaricum is seeking a Network and Cybersecurity Support Specialist to provide network administration, information technology (IT), and cybersecurity support for Department of Defense (DoD) programs. The successful candidate will support the installation, maintenance, security, and modernization of enterprise and standalone information systems within laboratory and operational environments. This position is primarily located at **Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), Maryland**, with occasional support at other CONUS locations as required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide network administration, information technology, and cybersecurity support for Government enterprise and standalone systems supporting laboratory, test, and operational environments.
  • Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade servers, workstations, laptops, printers, scanners, network devices, and other IT hardware.
  • Support the day-to-day administration, operation, maintenance, and sustainment of secure network infrastructure and standalone computer systems.
  • Implement operating system, database, firmware, and application updates, including validating security patches and maintaining system compliance.
  • Monitor system health, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and resolve technical problems to maximize system availability and performance.
  • Support the planning, implementation, and execution of technology refresh initiatives, lifecycle upgrades, and infrastructure modernization projects.
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, procurement, installation, and deployment of hardware, software, laboratory equipment, and IT tools.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive inventories of IT hardware, software licenses, maintenance agreements, and lifecycle information, including asset locations, operating systems, accreditation status, warranty information, and end-of-life dates.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network architecture, system configurations, accreditation artifacts, configuration changes, and technical procedures.
  • Support cybersecurity compliance activities by maintaining Authority to Operate (ATO) documentation, network diagrams, Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and other security artifacts.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Defense, Army, and organizational cybersecurity policies, including Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) requirements and applicable security regulations.
  • Support system certification and accreditation activities by documenting infrastructure modifications and maintaining security documentation.
  • Coordinate equipment installation, system commissioning, testing, user training, and operational support for new and upgraded technologies.
  • Collaborate with Government personnel, cybersecurity teams, network engineers, and mission stakeholders to maintain secure, reliable, and resilient IT environments.
  • Monitor enterprise services, software licensing, network connectivity, service tickets, outages, and maintenance activities to ensure operational readiness.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations for infrastructure improvements, system enhancements, and modernization initiatives that support mission requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and end-user support to facilitate the secure storage, management, and sharing of information across Government networks.
  • Maintain applicable DoD cybersecurity certifications and comply with all Government personnel qualification requirements for privileged IT positions.
  • Perform additional network, IT, and cybersecurity support duties as assigned in support of Government mission objectives.
