BluePearl Pet Hospital is currently hiring a Practice Manager for our busy Emergency only practice in Fresno, CA!

Pay: $88,517.00 - $120,668.00 Annual + Bonus

As an ER practice manger, you will work closely with the hospital administrator and medical director to maintain a high performing team that provides excellent patient care and customer service. Areas of responsibility will include associate planning and development, financial management, hospital administration and patient care. Working as an ER practice manager will start you on your path to high-level management as you move through your career and open greater opportunities in the company

As the ER Practice Manager, you will:

  • Partner with the Hospital Administrator and Medical Director to create and maintain a high performance, Clinician-driven culture within the hospital.


  • Serve as a champion of the unified mission and vision of BluePearl in all daily interactions, ensuring the hospital's commitment to remarkable patient care and outstanding client service.


  • When not performing hospital administration or managerial duties, you are responsible for working on the hospital floor to perform the paraprofessional duties of a veterinary technician or client service associate.


  • Be present and accessible within the hospital(s) to ensure awareness of hospital climate.


  • Consistently assess the engagement level of associates; takes a proactive approach to influence and drive a positive hospital climate. Accountable for associate engagement and retention.


  • Address and drive timely resolution of concerns. Communicates with hospital administration, technician, and client services teams regarding status of resolutions.


  • Prepare and complete all required paperwork and reports for the hospital in a timely manner.


  • Train staff on the proper procedures of using equipment and ensures equipment is up to date on servicing.


Associate Planning and Development

  • Partners with Talent Acquisition to recruit, interview and hire new associates.


  • Partners with Learning & Training to ensure associates have role-appropriate training completed.


  • Ensures work schedules for all hospital associates are established and in alignment with operating plans.


  • Manages daily flows and delegation of hospital administration tasks.


  • Ensures communication and feedback channels with associates are open, schedules and facilitates regular communication opportunities, and is responsive to associate concerns.


  • Provides performance feedback to associates including day-to-day recognition, conducts associate performance reviews, and ensures appropriate coaching/mentoring is arranged as needed.


  • Maintains confidentiality of associate records.


  • Monitor hospital for potential violations and/or hazardous situations. Take corrective actions as needed.


  • Documents and reports accidents.


  • Partners with assigned P&O Business Partner to understand and ensure compliance with all applicable federal and local labor law proactively upon assumption of the position and on an ongoing basis as associate relations matters arise.


Financial Management

  • Responsible for adherence to daily and monthly banking procedures and petty cash account maintenance.


  • Works with doctors to prepare accurate estimates and determine policy when actual bill exceeds estimate.


  • Ensure appropriate inventory is available to practice high quality medicine and ensure expenses adhere to budget.


  • Makes recommendations to the Hospital Administrator for major equipment and supply purchases.


  • Follow up with accounts receivable and collection issues as appropriate.


  • Implements new pricing policies as directed by the medical director.


Hospital Administration

  • Participates in Vet Relations plans developed by Vet Relations Representative.


  • Assure high levels of client satisfaction by implementing and maintaining customer service standards.


  • Communicates protocols for safety and facility maintenance to appropriate associates. Relays information regarding need to repairs and/or maintenance of equipment, building and grounds.


  • Understands and ensures compliance with OSHA, DEA and FDA, and applicable state and local agencies.


  • Maintain professional environment in both the front and back office.


  • Review and approve the release of medical records.


  • Other related duties as assigned.
