Position Summary:

At Sorren, our people, expertise, growth, and client impact create countless stories worth telling. The PR & Communications Manager plays a critical role in shaping how those stories are shared with the market, industry influencers, media, clients, and future talent.

This position is responsible for driving Sorren's public relations and earned media strategy, helping elevate the firm's brand, reputation, and thought leadership presence. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and hands-on executor who can identify newsworthy opportunities, secure media coverage, manage executive visibility initiatives, oversee industry award submissions, and protect and strengthen the firm's reputation.

Working closely with firm leadership and the Marketing Director, this individual will lead efforts to position Sorren and its executives as recognized leaders within the accounting, advisory, and professional services industries.

Success in this role requires someone who is equal parts storyteller, strategist, relationship builder, and self-starter-someone who is constantly looking for opportunities to elevate the Sorren brand and create meaningful visibility for the firm's people, expertise, and growth story.

Key Responsibilities

Public Relations & Media Relations
  • Develop and execute Sorren's public relations and earned media strategy.
  • Write and distribute press releases for acquisitions, incoming firms, partner announcements, service line launches, awards, and other key business milestones.
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry, business, and trade media.
  • Respond to media inquiries and coordinate interviews with firm leaders.

Executive Visibility & Thought Leadership
  • Manage podcast, speaking, interview, and media opportunities for Sorren's executives.
  • Identify opportunities to position firm leaders as trusted voices on accounting, advisory, tax, wealth, legal, and business topics.
  • Maintain a pipeline of proactive opportunities that increase executive and brand visibility.

Awards & Industry Recognition
  • Lead Sorren's award, ranking, and recognition strategy.
  • Identify and evaluate high-value award opportunities for the firm, its service lines, and its leaders.
  • Manage submission calendars, gather supporting information, and write compelling nominations.
  • Promote award wins through press releases, web content, social media, and internal communications.

Brand Monitoring & Reporting
  • Monitor media coverage, social channels, competitor activity, and industry trends.
  • Track mentions of Sorren, firm leaders, and key industry topics.
  • Provide regular reporting on media coverage, share of voice, sentiment, earned media performance, executive visibility, and award results.
  • Deliver recommendations and insights to improve brand awareness and reputation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in public relations, communications, media relations, or corporate communications.
  • Proven success securing earned media coverage and managing relationships with journalists and industry publications.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience developing press releases, media pitches, executive communications, and thought leadership content.
  • Experience managing award submissions, rankings, or recognition programs.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience with media monitoring and reporting tools preferred.
  • Professional services, accounting, consulting, legal, or financial services experience strongly preferred.

The compensation target for this role is $80,000 - $90,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Discretionary incentive compensation is based on firm, group, and individual performance.
