Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Power Platform Developer who will serve as a key member of the team supporting a mission-critical VA/OIT organization, designing and delivering solutions that automate business processes and turn data into actionable insight. This role sits at the intersection of application development, business process analysis, and data visualization, requiring the ability to translate real-world business workflows into scalable Power Platform solutions.

 

The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who thrives in a fast-paced, Agile environment and enjoys moving between building an app, automating a workflow, and standing up a dashboard. This developer does not simply write to spec; they partner with stakeholders to understand the underlying business need, perform gap analysis, and recommend the most effective tools and approaches. They are equally comfortable troubleshooting an integration as they are presenting key metrics to mission leadership in a clear, actionable format. This position is a fully remote within the United States with core hours of operation from Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM ET,with the possibility of 0-10% travel at client discretion.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using Power Platform tools, ranging from simple forms to complex enterprise solutions that automate repetitive processes such as approvals, notifications, and document management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand existing business workflows and identify where Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI can deliver innovative solutions.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective Power Apps solutions, integrating with the broader Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Develop and manage Power BI dashboards and reports that present key performance indicators and business metrics in a clear, actionable format.
  • Connect Power Platform solutions with other Microsoft services (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, Azure) and external APIs or databases.
  • Provide recommendations for process automation and data management across the organization, including through Power Automate and Power BI.
  • Perform gap analysis and trade-off analyses on technical solutions to determine the best tools and methodologies for complex data requests.
  • Document technical specifications and solution designs for both Power Apps and Power BI projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Enable end-user visibility of data and metrics through dashboard creation and metric dissemination, translating complex, multi-source information into a clear picture for mission leadership.
  • Create project deliverables and artifacts that adhere to team compliance and quality standards, and assess project and process effectiveness using source data.
  • Collaborate with business owners, scrum teams, and project managers to ensure timely responses to requests and ad hoc assignments.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and user training to ensure effective adoption of solutions.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices within the Microsoft Power Platform to ensure the team uses the most effective tools and methodologies.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Operations, Research or related fields and 5 years of relevant experience. (or commensurate experieince)
  • 5+ years of Microsoft Power Platform experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting Power Apps applications, including form and workflow design, automation, and connecting to data sources such as SharePoint and Excel.
  • Experience creating Power BI reports and dashboards, including data visualization and performance optimization.
  • Knowledge of integrating data from multiple sources into Power Apps and Power BI for cohesive solutions.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Strong business process analysis skills, with the ability to propose solutions that improve productivity and efficiency.
  • A problem-solving mindset focused on efficient, scalable solutions for business needs.
  • Ability to document designs, solutions, and processes clearly and concisely for stakeholders.
  • Ability to present data insights in a clear, user-friendly format.
  • Strong collaboration skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Ability to translate specific Department of Veterans Affairs mission needs into practical data elements for analysis.
  • Understanding of Power Apps and Power BI environment management, including security and permissions.
  • Experience collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams, sharing workload and team responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to work with non-technical stakeholders and propose practical, business-driven solutions.
  • Microsoft certifications in Power Platform tools.
