What you will do:The Power Electronics Design Leader will provide global electronic technical leadership, driving innovation and technology roadmaps across multiple projects. You will lead technical teams and resources, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and represent the organization in international technical forums. The successful candidate will serve as a recognized expert in electronic technology, collaborating closely with technical leaders and management.
How you will do it: • Develop and execute Annual Development Plans, Performance Reviews, and Succession Plans (as appropriate) for each team member.
• Develop and train internal technical experts to ensure consistent application of proper hardware engineering discipline throughout the product development cycle.
• Devise and implement processes, tools, and KPI's to continuously improve product quality governance.
• Directing technical teams to resolve technical issues and ensure changes implemented to avoid reoccurrence.
• Provide an efficient, swift and effective path for escalation/resolution of hardware issues (as needed).
• Lead reviews and negotiations of customer specifications, industry standards, regulatory standards and internal design guidelines to establish product electrical requirements.
• Directs the requirement analysis and validation planning activities in accordance with automotive functional safety and ASPICE processes without guidance.
• Leads and approves design verification activities such as engineering analysis, simulation, design reviews, DFMEAs, validation testing and reporting in accordance with automotive functional safety and ASPICE processes without guidance.
• Leads and approves design direction for core and customer power electronic circuit designs including DCDC converters, solid state relays, pre-driver, magnetics, input filters, and other power semiconductor circuits.
• Generates technical requirements of electrical architecture and electrical circuit design, components and sub-assemblies including PCBA, contactors, other electrical hardware.
• Generates hardware / software interface specifications, including DCDC control strategies to be used in application and test software, working closely with the embedded software engineering team.
• Directs design and test for vehicle level electrical and electromagnetic performance per customer requirements. Optimize the electrical system design to balance cost, performance, mass, volume, and energy efficiency.
• Directs electrical design analyses and test results in support of design verification.
• Directs the development of power / high current test setups, plan, and execute tests for electrical circuits and components.
• Directs Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders.
• Leads suppliers to deliver components to specifications.
• Leads the design for manufacturability (DFM) to ensure that the design is optimized for manufacturing processes.
• Provides technical leadership to team members and allocates to project teams and tasks with other engineering disciplines.
• Manages, coaches and leads the development of others, growing organizational skill and competency in creativity and innovation.
What we look for: Required: • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
• >15 years of professional engineering experience in related field
• 2-4 years of engineering supervision experience required; 1-2 years direct reports
• Expert in the use of electronic design and development tools, including schematic capture, layout, analysis, and simulation
• Expert with electronic circuit debug and test
• Expert in the use of electrical engineering equipment such as power supplies, DMM's, and oscilloscopes
• Technical / project leadership experience taking power electronics from concept to production
• Experience with soft-switching and resonant topologies
• Experience with GAN and SiC power components and high precision analog design
Preferred:• Master's degree in Power Electronics
