Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate within Radiation Oncology/Cancer Biology at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.

The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Associate position is to conduct independent laboratory research under the direction of the principal investigator. Incumbent is expected to carry out various experimental and bioinformatics studies in the area of the lab. The focus of the Lab is in the area of differential protein expression in the human vascular endothelium, associated with normal or diseased tissues, offers the potential for developing novel diagnostic, imaging, and therapeutic strategies. Our program uses peptide- and antibody-based combinatorial library selection to discover, validate, and exploit the vascular biochemical diversity of endothelial cell surfaces towards identifying new vascular targeted pharmacologics for clinical translation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Performs independent research relevant to the interest and field of differential protein expression in the human vascular endothelium, associated with normal or diseased tissues, offers the potential for developing novel diagnostic, imaging, and therapeutic strategies.
  • Publishes reports of key findings in a timely manner.
  • Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments. Compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations pertinent to the research.
  • Prepares grant proposals based on the research conducted and maintains an up to date understanding of the relevant literature.
  • Gives oral presentations of the research at lab meetings and conferences.
  • Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, technicians, and laboratory assistants as required.
  • Publishes scientific research papers/articles using effective oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. Degree required in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Computational Physics, or a related field.
  • Background in either scientific computing or experimental design required.
  • Consideration to interview will also be given to applicants who are in the process of completing their PhD degree. Documentation of PhD degree completion must be provided prior to commencement of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong foundational knowledge or interest in molecular systems, structural biology, or cellular biology preferred.
  • Experience with computational modeling, molecular simulations, bioinformatics, or wet-lab experimental design relevant to the lab's focus preferred.

  • Laboratory environment operates under mandatory universal safety precaution.
