Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine within the New Jersey Medical School (NJMS).
Under the direction of the principal investigator, the Post Doctoral Associate conducts highly specialized and technical research involving animal models of cardiovascular disease.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Designs, executes, and analyzes in vitro and in vivo studies of cardiovascular disease.
- Responsible for keeping detailed records of procedures and experiments in laboratory notebook. Compiles data,make necessary calculations, presents results at national conferences, and publish the results on high impactjournals.
- Develops own research project(s) under the guidance of the PI.
- Instructs and trains students, technicians and laboratory assistants as required.
- Performs genetic matings to generate animal models of heart disease.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience - Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cellular & Molecular Physiology, Pharmacology, or an equivalent field.
Certifications/LicensesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesPreferred Qualifications - Expertise in cardiovascular research is desired.
Equipment UtilizedPhysical Demands and Work Environment PHYSICAL DEMANDS:- This position involves prolonged standing, walking and sitting, as well as use of laboratory equipment.
- Must performcomplex procedures and demonstrate manual dexterity.
- Some stooping, reaching, climbing and bending.
- Occasionallifting of 20 pounds to a height of 6½ feet. Hearing and speech capabilities necessary to communicate with otherresearchers and staff in person, on the telephone and by e-mail.
- Vision capable of viewing gauges, computer monitors,charts, forms, text and numbers for prolonged periods.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including overtime onshort notice and possible weekends and holidays to meet strict deadlines.
