Post Production Supervisor for a full-time, permanent, 100% onsite role located in Santa Monica, CA. This role involves managing a team of in-house post artists and coordinating with day player vendors. The supervisor will collaborate with producers and internal teams to create schedules, budgets, and ensure the efficient execution of post-production workflows. The individual will be responsible for quality control, technical support, and the development of best practices, while also maintaining relationships with external vendors. Additionally, the Post Production Supervisor will manage media workflows, oversee project data in Jira, and ensure that all technical requirements are met for final delivery.
Responsibilities:- Oversee the work of in-house post artists at the GSS studios, and day player vendors
- Collaborate with GSS producers and customers to create post-production schedules and budgets
- Generate or obtain post-production budgets and bids and help negotiate the best service deals
- Quality control media files to ensure technical requirements are met for final air and distribution
- Serve as the post-production technical liaison to cross-functional internal teams, such as: Marketing, Content, AR, Engineering, Comms, DEI, etc
- Document and update best practices, creative standards and technical workflows to maintain high-quality standards while supporting the visions of our internal partners and production teams
- Ensure that the post-production schedule is adhered to, keep internal team members and external vendors on schedule, and oversee file exchanges between post teams, production teams and internal partners
- Plan media management workflows for projects and organize assets for delivery to clients
- Use Jira to input post-production project data, communicate with internal partners and team members, assist with post scheduling and to illustrate metrics via visual dashboards
- Liaise with engineers to build and support robust media management practices and infrastructure
- Schedule, lead, and attend meetings, such as: cut reviews, locks, mixes, color corrections, and QCs
- Notate cuts and transmit notes to clients, producers, leadership, and other project partners
- Keep internal and external post teams on target for delivery and scheduled review sessions of cuts with producers, internal partners and leadership
- Maintain a network of post vendors and service providers to deliver consistent premium content
- Manage the team's instances and services for Frame.io, Google Drive, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and other DAM/MAM products
- Communicate post-production equipment needs and concerns for planning and budgeting
- Create and ensure backup redundancies across all content file libraries
- Manage, maintain, and upgrade shared network resources, servers and media storage
- Work with Client Engineering & Corporate Security to ensure all post hardware and software is updated, running efficiently, and properly safeguarded for scalable, long-term production
- Fill in as a video editor or motion graphics support as needed
- Stay current on latest post trends and evaluate new products to advise on risks and benefits
Required Qualifications & Experience:- A logistics-focused self-starter with elite organizational skills; proven ability to manage multiple complex post-production schedules and external vendors simultaneously.
- Experienced at building and managing post-production budgeting and scheduling.
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Media Encoder, Audition, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve; preference for candidates who prioritize technical troubleshooting and proxy workflow management over creative execution.
- Able to provide clear creative direction as well as evoke artistic thinking in colleagues.
- Great organizational skills; can shuffle tasks and resources while communicating with colleagues.
- Service lead with strong vendor management experience.
- Experience working with production companies, post houses, studios, or networks is a must.
- Thorough knowledge of linear and nonlinear editing techniques, audio pre-lay and mixing methods, plus media file formats, animated graphics, and gear used in post-production processes.
- Experience in a deadline-driven post environment with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Experienced with a variety of digital media post workflows.
- A good understanding of audio, lighting, color correction, motion graphics, and keying footage.
- Able to project manage and schedule post personnel and vendors.
- Experience creating post-delivery schedules from start to finish.
- Thorough understanding of post management operations, including working knowledge of media delivery specs, video formats, and codecs.
- Experience with project management software for production planning; Jira knowledge is a big plus.
- Deep experience integrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting conventional media management systems such as: SNS, QNAP, Synology, AWS, and GCP.
- 4+ years of experience in production and/or post-production supervision and/or coordination.
- 2+ years of post or related service leadership.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:- A proven technical background in post-production.
- Experience with subtitling and captioning workflows is preferred.
- Post-production experience in tech media, streaming, or creative marketing is preferred.
- Ability to safely lift 50 lbs unassisted.
- Experience working in a start-up environment or tech company.
- Professional certifications, credentials, and awards related to video production and creativity.
- Valid California Driver's License (or the ability to obtain).
- Valid Passport for international travel (or ability to get one)
