Full Job Description
Responsibilities

PNNL seeks a postdoctoral research associate to explore the frontier of quantum information science and plasma physics. The successful applicant will lay the theoretical foundation for Quantum Computer for Application Development and Discovery Science (QC-ADDS). Expertise in fault tolerant quantum algorithms and plasma physics is desired. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary and collaborative team of researchers with a broad range of interests and expertise. We expect the successful applicant to publish their research in the peer-reviewed literature and present at scientific conferences.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.
  • Academic background or experience with quantum algorithms or quantum computing.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. degree in Quantum Computing, Plasma Physics, Statistical Physics, or a related field
  • Familiarity with quantum algorithm, quantum error correction, and fusion energy science
  • Strong team player with the willingness and ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to publish work in peer-reviewed journals
  • Demonstrated expertise in quantum algorithms and error correction
  • Demonstrated experience in formulating nonlinear multiscale complex systems
