POSITION SUMMARY:

The Portfolio Manager III - SBL supports Bank's goal of enhancing and increasing the efficiency of the sales force by way of processing & underwriting loan applications as well as managing the day to day deal flow of applications, and providing portfolio management services to Retail (Market Sales Managers and Branches). Using past and current experience, analytical skills, detailed cashflow analysis and systems to underwrite in support of loan decisions from application to closing and portfolio management (life cycle of a loan). Provides guidance and support to other SBL Team members and contributes to process improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reviews both new and renewal loan applications processed, analyze financial statements and cashflow analysis of PM I & II and completes more complex cashflow analysis of C&I and CRE transactions and other supporting documentation of borrowers and guarantors to effectively structure, price and decision small business loans. Throughout the process will coach PM I & II on quality of their work to process and decision small business loans. They will also complete underwriting and decisioning of larger and more complex transactions.
  • Utilizes SBL's decisioning software and other Bank systems to properly process, decision, and document credit requests according to Bank policy and goals. Look for ways to improve SBL's process, templates and procedures.
  • Seeks to maintain appropriate levels of Credit Quality in origination, renewal and portfolio monitoring of small business loans, consistent with overall objectives of the Department. Identifying problem loans, etc. Provides guidance and assistance to PB I & II on required actions in their Portfolios as necessary.
  • Communicate loan decisions and recommendations to Retail (Market Sales Managers and Branch Managers) and other department personnel including Sr/Exec Mgmt when necessary. Direct loans through due diligence and documentation processes. Handles the more complicated mortgage closings that involve Attorneys, Appraisals, and Environmental.
  • Assists with training (AppLink) and mentoring Retail (Market Sales Managers and Branches) with SBL's process & procedures. Provide guidance to Retail on Prospects and how proposed loan could be structured.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 8+ years direct "line" experience in commercial lending, underwriting or portfolio management.
  • Strong skillset to translate analytical skills and cash flow analysis into making quality loan decisions while reviewing and teaching PM I & II as necessary.
  • Ability to work closely with Retail and other Depts (internal to Bank) along with others external to Bank.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills, sufficient to accomplish every aspect and task in the life cycle of a loan.
  • Excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills with colleagues, other Depts., and Sr Mgmt.
  • Ability to provide guidance/training to others at the same or lower level.
  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Familiar with technology to learn credit decisioning software and Bank systems.


PREFERRED QUALIFICIATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. preferred but not required based on level of experience.
  • Strong level of credit training preferred but not required based on level of experience.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is mainly performed in a normal office environment. Noise levels usually are moderate. May also involve travel to customers and property locations.

Pay Details:

$99,400 - $142,000 annually

Please note, the base pay actually offered may vary based upon the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, education, geographic location, internal equity, and other applicable business and organizational needs.

This role is incentive eligible based upon company, business, and/or individual goal achievement and performance.
