Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Public Health, Human Services, or a closely related field; three years of experience in employee wellness, physical fitness coaching or human performance, health promotion, or nutrition counseling, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. DCJS general instructor certification and personal training certification preferred but may be acquired after assignment. Knowledge of comprehensive wellness principles, including physical, emotional, mental, social, financial, and overall employee wellbeing, and the ability to translate these principles into practical programming for a public safety environment. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to design, coordinate, and deliver wellness initiatives that effectively engage sworn and professional staff members across all divisions and levels of the department.

Duties

The Police Wellness Coordinator will seek out and provide health and wellness information and training for department members and assist members with all aspects of wellness. They will act as a team leader for the wellness team and coordinate all training for the wellness ambassadors and representatives. Some of the other duties include:
• Partnering with Command Staff, the training academy, County HR, and other divisions to embed wellness into department culture
• Serve as a member of the PEER support team
• Maintain wellness-related documentation, SOP updates, and resource materials
• Provide wellness information and updates via the department newsletter and information displays
• Other duties as assigned

Shift

Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; occasional evenings and weekends
