Our Pratt Whitney Global Digital Technology team has an exciting remote growth opportunity for an PMO Portfolio Strategy & Capability Lead.

What You Will Do:

The Associate Director - Digital Portfolio Strategy & Capability provides strategic leadership for evolution of Global Digital PMO by ensuring organization possesses the people, capabilities, operating model, and strategic capacity required to successfully deliver the Digital portfolio.

Rather than owning day-to-day PMO operations, Agile coaching, or methodology governance, this leader focuses on building organizational capability, executive portfolio readiness, and strategic deployment of delivery leadership across the enterprise.

The Associate Director serves as the strategic partner to Global PMO Director while working closely with the Enterprise Agile Coach, PMO Center of Excellence Lead, Portfolio Managers, Business Relationship Managers, and Digital Leadership to continuously mature enterprise execution capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Strategic Delivery Capability & SWAT Leadership (Primary Ownership)

Establish and manage a Digital deployment model for experienced Program Managers and Project Managers who can be rapidly assigned to high-priority business initiatives.

Responsibilities include:
  • Maintain an enterprise bench of senior delivery professionals.
  • Rapidly deploy experienced leaders to strategic initiatives, executive priorities, recovery efforts, or emerging business demands.
  • Support Portfolio Managers during complex demand intake and business case development.
  • Provide interim leadership for critical programs experiencing delivery challenges.
  • Ensure deployment readiness across global PMO resources.
  • Partner with Resource Management to anticipate future strategic capability needs.


2. PMO Organizational Capability Strategy (Primary Ownership)

Continuously evaluate the health and maturity of the Digital PMO organization.

Responsibilities include:
  • Assess organizational strengths and capability gaps across global PMO teams.
  • Develop multi-year capability roadmaps aligned to business strategy.
  • Identify future skills required across Portfolio, Program, and Project Management.
  • Recommend organizational structure enhancements.
  • Drive succession planning for key PMO leadership roles.
  • Partner with HR on recruitment, career paths, and leadership development.
  • Measure organizational capability maturity and workforce readiness.


3. Portfolio Readiness & Strategic Transformation (Primary Ownership)

Ensure the Digital PMO organization is prepared to support evolving business priorities.

Responsibilities include:
  • Evaluate organizational readiness for major transformation programs.
  • Support executive portfolio planning activities.
  • Develop deployment strategies for large-scale initiatives.
  • Recommend organizational changes required to support new business priorities.
  • Coordinate enterprise response to emerging strategic demands.
  • Identify execution risks from a capability and capacity perspective.


4. Strategic Mergers & Acquisitions Support (Primary Ownership)

Serve as the PMO lead supporting Digital integration activities during mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic partnerships.

Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate Digital PMO support for integration planning.
  • Assess program leadership requirements.
  • Establish temporary governance for integration initiatives.
  • Coordinate deployment of senior PM resources.
  • Support executive integration reviews.
  • Identify organizational capability requirements during integration activities.


5. Enterprise Change Leadership (Shared Responsibility)

Act as a strategic change sponsor for organizational improvements across the PMO.

Focus on:
  • Driving adoption of new organizational capabilities.
  • Supporting operating model evolution.
  • Promoting enterprise collaboration.
  • Championing continuous improvement.
  • Building strong partnerships across Business and Digital organizations.


Qualifications You Must Have:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline and 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in Portfolio, Program, Project Management, or Digital Transformation leadership; OR a Master's degree (MBA, Engineering Management, Organizational Leadership, or equivalent) and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in Portfolio, Program, Project Management, or Digital Transformation leadership.

- Minimum 5 years leading enterprise-level PMO, Portfolio Management, Program Management Office, or Business Transformation organizations.

- Demonstrated success leading large, cross-functional Digital transformation initiatives supporting business-critical capabilities.

- Experience establishing organizational capability improvement strategies across Portfolio, Program, and Project Management disciplines.

- Experience supporting executive leadership in strategic planning, portfolio prioritization, organizational readiness, and business transformation initiatives.

- Experience managing complex, multi-million-dollar portfolios with multiple concurrent programs across global teams.

- Proven experience building high-performing delivery organizations, mentoring senior Program Managers, and developing future leadership pipelines.

- Experience working across multiple delivery methodologies, including Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall environments.

Qualifications We Prefer:

- Master's degree (MBA, Engineering Management, Organizational Leadership, or equivalent).

- Experience within Aerospace & Defense, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or similarly regulated industries is preferred.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
