In this role, you'll contribute to the U.S. Navy's PMW 160 Consolidated Afloat Networks Enterprise Services (CANES) program, working alongside engineers, acquisition professionals, and fleet stakeholders to deliver resilient, forward-leaning solutions in support of national defense.
About the role: As the PMW 160 CANES SCN CVN Platform Lead, you will serve as the primary coordinator for the planning, procurement, delivery, installation, and lifecycle execution of Consolidated Afloat Networks Enterprise Services (CANES) equipment aboard new construction U.S. Navy aircraft carriers. This role blends technical program execution, acquisition support, logistics coordination, and stakeholder engagement to ensure critical Navy networking capabilities are delivered on schedule and aligned with shipbuilding milestones. You will collaborate daily with Navy program offices, shipyards, engineering teams, installation contractors, and technical authorities to keep one of the Navy's most important network modernization efforts on track.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate funding activities, procurement efforts, delivery schedules, and installation planning for CANES Ship Change Notices (SCNs) supporting new construction aircraft carriers.
- Develop funding documentation including initial 7300 financial documents, spend plans, and Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs).
- Coordinate procurement activities for hardware and software while ensuring delivery aligns with shipyard installation milestones.
- Develop Statements of Work (SOWs), technical requirements, and installation tasking for product installation teams.
- Prepare and deliver program status briefings and platform update presentations to senior Navy leadership and program stakeholders.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) regarding CANES platform designs, technical implementation, and installation planning.
- Maintain platform milestone schedules, SCN fielding plans, and overall program execution tracking.
- Coordinate resolution of technical, logistics, and integration issues requiring collaboration across multiple organizations and engineering disciplines.
- Review Daily Status Reports (DSRs) related to shipboard load-out activities and coordinate support for identified issues.
- Submit and track Tactical Networks (TACNET) trouble tickets for defective equipment and coordinate issue resolution.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum six (6) years of experience supporting Information Technology (IT) systems engineering, IT production coordination, project management, or related defense programs supporting the DoD or other Government Agencies.
- Experience supporting the installation of Navy network systems on new construction U.S. Navy afloat platforms.
- Experience supporting Navy Systems Commands (SYSCOMs) and Acquisition/Integration Program Offices.
- Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders across engineering, logistics, acquisition, and installation organizations.
- Experience developing funding documentation, procurement packages, Statements of Work (SOWs), or acquisition support documentation.
- Ability to investigate and resolve complex issues spanning multiple technical disciplines and organizations.
- Experience maintaining schedules, fielding plans, milestone tracking, and program execution documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-starter capable of independently managing priorities while coordinating across multiple organizations.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience supporting PMW 160, PEO Digital, NAVWAR, or related Navy C4I acquisition programs.
- Experience developing or improving enterprise system architectures to enhance efficiency, reliability, maintainability, and long-term sustainability.
- Experience supporting CANES, Tactical Networks, or other Navy afloat networking modernization initiatives.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physical Science, or related technical discipline preferred.
- Additional experience may be substituted where permitted under applicable contract Labor Category (LCAT) requirements.
- PMP certification preferred.
Citizenship and Clearance requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- No dual citizenship.
- Active Secret clearance required.
- Active Top Secret clearance preferred.
Location/Address:
- Hybrid position.
- San Diego, California.
- Periodic onsite support at Government facilities in the San Diego area as required by the customer.
Travel & Passport:
- Less than 25% CONUS travel.
- Travel primarily supports customer meetings, shipyard coordination, installation oversight, program reviews, and stakeholder engagement.
- Passport not anticipated to be required.
Work Environment: PMAT offices as needed. In some cases, work in a government facility may be required. Travel may be required for customer engagement, team coordination, and potentially for business development.
