Full Job Description
Summary Description:

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, as a Plant Superintendent, the position is accountable for safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity, material handling, cost performance, employee training and relations in a high-performance work team environment, capital improvements and budget preparation, and overall Global Performance System (GPS) expansion. This job demands monitoring production performance and implementing processes, procedures, and methods to improve results in all key functional areas. The position is responsible for implementing and maintaining best manufacturing practices and regulatory compliance for all production activities.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Ensure the safety of all employees; work directly with the Safety pillar to lead a comprehensive safety program to prevent injuries. Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Develop subordinates through education, training, and teamwork; directly manage the Elk Grove Production Management Team consisting of nine salaried leaders.
  • Responsible for motivating, supporting and guiding all employees.
  • Communicate problems and obstacles to the Plant Manager and the leadership team. Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or quality.
  • Create schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels within the five primary operational departments (Blown Film, Press, Lamination, Slitting and Logistics).
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual plant operating budget. Meet or exceed plant productivity, cost, and other performance metric expectations as outlined by Plant Manager. Specific focus on facilitating margin-based improvement initiatives and monthly financial performance analysis as needed.
  • Identify, propose, and implement capital projects to improve operational performance. Assist the Plant Manager in the preparation and execution of the annual capital project plan.
  • Hire, train, direct and mentor operations staff and all plant employees with diverse language, cultural and educational background. Collaborate with CSD pillar to expand training/education framework for the facility and audit for effectiveness.
  • Lead facility in continuous improvement initiatives. Serve as the primary liaison for project fulfillment between core GPS pillar teams (TQM, FI, CSD, DTM, Safety) and operational department teams.
  • Coordinate production scheduling to meet customer demands, to manage overtime, to minimize inventory, and to reduce costs.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in supporting commercial efforts to enhance the overall customer experience in all facets of the operation.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in promoting and maintaining local contacts to ensure healthy and positive community relations.
  • Support TQM pillar initiatives to ensure product meets or exceeds customer expectations. Ensure operational leaders and employees complete required quality checks and audits, incident investigations, and sustain corrective/preventative measures.
  • Build and maintain productive employee relationships, driving employee satisfaction. Provide direction, training, and development to the Production Management Team as needed. Provide coaching, counseling, or discipline as needed. Recommend disciplinary action to Plant Manager and review disciplinary action by managers for effectiveness and consistency. Work with HR business partners to address employee concerns and issues.
  • Assume the role and responsibilities of the Plant Manager in his/her absence.


This is an ONSITE position located out of our Elk Grove Village, IL Facility

  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience or equivalent.
  • Previous education and/or training in manufacturing, engineering, safety or related field preferred.
  • Ability to complete Red Cross 1st Aid & CPR/AED certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to include creating charts, graphs, SOP's, One Point Lessons, presentations.
  • Must have high level of integrity, trust, and ethical standards.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime and flexible schedule as needed to support all shifts.
  • Must have above average communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Must be able to maintain composure and professional tact at all times.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this role is from $120,000 to $140,000

An annual bonus is awarded to eligible employees upon attaining various business and individual goals as defined by the Company and the department leader. This annual bonus is discretionary, and the Company has sole discretion to determine the amount of the award.
