ABOUT THE ROLE The Plant Superintendent directs daily production operations at the architectural precast concrete facility in Jacksonville, Florida. The position coordinates personnel, materials, equipment, molds, schedules, and plant resources to meet safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and budget requirements.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, this hands-on leader guides supervisors, foremen, leads, and hourly employees while partnering with Quality Control, Engineering, Maintenance, Batch Plant, Yard/Shipping, Project Management, Safety, Human Resources, and Purchasing.

WHAT YOU'LL DO - Direct production activities and allocate manpower, materials, equipment, molds, and other resources to meet schedule, quality, productivity, and budget goals.
- Review production schedules, strand and cut sheets, shop drawings, specifications, and related documents; coordinate start times, batch plant activity, Quality Control checks, and document distribution.
- Oversee reinforcing, prestressing, form preparation, embeds, mold building, fiberglass fabrication and concrete placement.
- Monitor daily progress, identify constraints, and adjust labor, equipment, materials, and priorities to resolve production problems and maintain commitments.
- Enforce the Company's safety program; enforce OSHA, PPE, lockout/tagout, equipment-operation, and housekeeping requirements; participate in inspections and incident reviews.
- Ensure products meet approved drawings, specifications, customer requirements, company procedures, and applicable PCI standards; investigate defects and implement corrective action.
- Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable supervisors and production employees; establish performance expectations and address attendance, conduct, productivity, and workplace concerns with Human Resources.
- Monitor staffing, overtime, labor utilization, time records, monthly labor reports, and operating costs; ensure accurate allocation of labor hours.
- Coordinate with plant and support departments on drawings, revisions, maintenance, materials, storage, shipping, delivery, and schedule priorities; provide timely production updates and documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement, Lean/5S, standardized work, error reduction, cost savings, housekeeping, and proper storage and security of tools and equipment.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE - At least 7 years of progressive manufacturing, precast concrete, concrete construction, or related production experience, preferably in architectural or structural precast, prestressed concrete, concrete products, or heavy manufacturing.
- At least 3 to 5 years of supervisory or production-management experience leading supervisors, foremen, leads, and/or a significant hourly workforce.
- Demonstrated success managing production schedules, manpower, materials, equipment, safety, quality, productivity, labor reporting, and operating costs.
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, shop drawings, strand and cut sheets, specifications, and related technical documents.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills, plus working knowledge of OSHA requirements.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and production, scheduling, timekeeping, or ERP systems; availability for early mornings, extended hours, and occasional weekends.
- Preferred: direct architectural precast and PCI-certified plant experience; knowledge of concrete, reinforcement, prestressing, formwork, embeds, finishes, product handling, Lean/5S, and cost-control practices.
- Preferred: OSHA 10 and 30 certification; PCI, ACI, NPCA, or related training; and an associate or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field. Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
- Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
- Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
- Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
- Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors (Depending on location)
- Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
