Job Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Plant Manager will be responsible for the manufacturing and administrative aspects of managing and leading a plant. As the leader of the facilities operations, this individual will be responsible for all staff operations to ensure the safety of employees and the efficient and safe handling of ingredients into the facility, processing activities within the facility, and shipments of all finished products from the facility.

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:
• Implement and support all aspects of company policy including food and worker safety.
• Track, analyze, and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational efficiency and support data-driven decision-making.
• Ensure product quality meets the requirements of the customer and the product manufactured.
• Work in coordination with other functions to assure and enforce compliance with all Food Safety Guidelines, FDA and OSHA guidelines, as well as Federal and State laws governing the workplace.
• Manage daily operations and plan the use of materials and human resources.
• Oversee all plant operation functions including receiving, production planning, production process, storage of materials, maintenance, and logistics.
• Manage and supervise staff including multiple direct reports.
• Direct and coordinate the activities of managers or departments concerned with product production, purchase and distribution, food safety, and customer service.
• Establish administrative controls and metrics to evaluate and maintain performance objectives.
• Determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
• Accountable for Operating Expense Management.
• Assist the Director of Operations in preparing annual expense and capital budget for all operational and administrative activities.
• Champion engagement among the team: mentoring, developing and coaching team members.
• Identify, develop, implement and maintain operating procedures that drive efficient utilization of company assets.
• Oversee all location infrastructure related to operations, ensuring safety and maintenance.
• Determine staffing requirements, interview, hire, and ensure appropriate training of new employees.
• Maintains actual cost of goods at or below standard. Investigates ways to reduce scrap waste out-of-specification and contaminated ingredients. Explores ways to reduce the manpower and effort needed to produce products without sacrificing quality.
