Position Description

The Plant Manager is responsible for all Manufacturing, Packaging, Inventory, and Distribution operations as well as manufacturing support functions: Engineering, Quality, Safety and Maintenance. This position is responsible for meeting the needs of the customers, while maximizing operational effectiveness. The position will provide daily direction and leadership to all departments and ensure compliance to all company policies and procedures. The Plant Manager is responsible for monitoring performance, setting expectations and development of staff.

Responsibilities
  • Foster a shared commitment among all employees to prioritize and be responsible for safety and quality.
  • Direct and coordinate plant operations within company policies and procedures that produce products that meet quality, cost, volume and service criteria, and objectives.
  • Assure attainment of business objectives and production schedules while ensuring product standards meet our customers' expectations.
  • Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports strategic initiatives and goals.
  • Work closely with functional departments to ensure coordination between sales, customer service, loading, shipping, purchasing, receiving and finance.
  • Maintain individual skills, keeping up to date with best practices around production management and manufacturing technology.
  • Establish, manage and maintain a well-trained and motivated staff. Develop and implement comprehensive plans to develop employees.
  • All employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
  • All employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that meets the quality and value expectations of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical field required. MBA, Masters, or degree in food science/technology or engineering preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment required. 10+ years in food and/or packaging preferred.
  • 5+ years of direct managerial experience required.
  • Energetic, creative, self-directed manager with high level of integrity.
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • In depth understanding of all areas of operations management.
  • Ability to administer a proactive management approach.
  • Effective team building and demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve beyond routine issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • SQF, SAP, and MES experience preferred.
