Plant Manager III

Full Time

Reports To: Complex Manager
The Plant Manager III is responsible for overseeing all functional and operational areas of Tyson Foods' poultry processing plant in Center, Texas. This role provides strategic leadership to approximately 1,200 team members across three production shifts and ensures efficient operations while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will have extensive poultry manufacturing experience-preferably in Tray Pack operations-and proven ability to lead and develop managers in a unionized environment.
Travel Requirement: 6-11 trips per year (plant visits, leadership meetings, and corporate reviews)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct, lead, and manage all plant operations including production, maintenance, quality, food safety, scheduling, shipping, receiving, and sanitation.
  • Develop and mentor a leadership team, fostering continuous improvement, accountability, and succession readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA, OSHA, and company regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Oversee production performance metrics, cost control, waste reduction, and yield improvements.
  • Execute and monitor capital improvement projects; ensure timely completion and alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Prepare and review monthly expense and efficiency reports, identifying and implementing operational improvements.
  • Collaborate with HR and senior leadership to drive engagement, retention, and leadership development programs.
  • Lead the implementation of Tyson's Total Quality Management (TQM) philosophy across plant operations.
  • Ensure food safety, product legality, and quality standards are maintained throughout all plant functions.
  • Promote an inclusive, safety-focused, and results-driven work environment.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred (or equivalent experience in Food Processing or Industrial Operations).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 8+ years in poultry manufacturing (Tray Pack or Kill Plant experience preferred).
    • Minimum 6+ years in leadership of large-scale, multi-shift operations (1,000+ employees).
    • Prior union environment management experience required.
  • Knowledge Areas:
    • Food Safety, HACCP, and USDA regulations
    • Production efficiency, cost control, and continuous improvement
    • Employee engagement and team development strategies
    • Capital budgeting and project management
Technical & Soft Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
