Your mission, roles and responsibilities

FORVIA is committed to leading the way in safety and sustainable industrial development. The role of the HSE manager is to provide support to plant staff and employees to ensure a safe workplace that complies with Faurecia rules and governmental regulations related to health, safety and environmental activities.

Responsibilities:
• Respect and enforce the Group, Business Group, and Division HSE policies, procedures and programs
• Manage medical providers and employee medical programs to include assessments, routine and special monitoring, treatment, return to work and adherence of safety protocols • Manage workers compensation and approval with Plant Manager and HSE Director • Participate in Faurecia's HSE network
• Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Plant ISO14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) and continual improvement of site environmental performance
• Participate in EMS Cross Functional Team meetings
• Carry out HSE Department member responsibilities established in the Plant EMS
• Monitor legal compliance and assist with the site's relations with local government and regulatory organizations
• Lead in site preparations for regulatory inspections • Prepare and maintain the reporting of legal, insurance and other HSE indicators (e.g. lost time (FR0t), medical treatment (FR1t), first aid and Near Miss, Audit results, environmental data, etc.)
• Review and validate HSE deliverables for new program launches (e.g. SDS, machine and equipment safety/ergonomics check sheets, etc.)
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering team in the redaction of Standard Operating Procedures for the HSE section
• Investigate accidents and develop preventative initiatives • Propose continuous improvement ideas in business efficiency and cost reduction
• Capitalizes on knowledge and shares best practices / lessons learned across organization and within the site

Position Specifications

Authorities:
• Conduct emergency preparedness and response actions (e.g. fire drill, tornado drill, etc.)
• Lead in the development, maintenance, and enforcement of site level HSE programs and associated training
• Enforce members in assigned area(s) of responsibility conform to relevant HSE requirements including contractors and visitors
• Conduct risk analysis for the whole site and bring solutions to improve the working conditions; the level of industrial safety; and respect of the environment
• Investigate accidents and develop preventative initiatives
• Organize and conduct or participate in HSE audits (Internal and External)
• Advise managers on HSE matters and ensure implementation of recommendations
• Stop production in case of any Safety Hazards or environmental impact
• Decide on emergency response for an individual's safety condition (e.g. EMS call, sent home, local care, etc.)
• Require machine and equipment upgrade based on risk assessment results
• Ensure the Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) requirements are established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with the current ISO 14001 standard and ISO 45001 standard.
• Ensure the Environmental l Health and Safety (HSE) management system Authority & Responsibility Matrix is followed according to role in organization

Your profile and competencies to succeed

Minimum education level:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or Health, Safety & Environment related degree, or equivalent experience

Professional Experience:
  • Internal or Lead Auditor in EMS, Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS) or related management system
  • Experience in a plant or in an industrial environment
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in management or leadership
  • Workers Compensation claims management (USA)
  • Professional safety certifications preferred (i.e. Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, etc.) Leadership Competencies:

Knowledge / Skills:
• Knowledge of HSE tools and methods: 7 Safety fundamentals, 5 why methodology, job instruction, audits, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001

• Strong teamwork sense
• Strong communication skills
• Strong analytical skills, organizational, and administrative skills are essential
