What we offer

The Plant Director will drive tactical, operational, and strategic leadership across all aspects of wall panel, ceiling and floor production within SAMI's world-leading, highly automated and roboticized manufacturing facility within the Housing Solutions business unit. The initial scope of this role will include supporting commissioning of the plant and developing operational scaling plans in collaboration with all stakeholders. This role is central to ensuring precision, efficiency, and scalability in producing panels and assembled modules that meet the highest standards of quality and manufacturability.

What you'll do
  • Oversee all manufacturing operations in SAMI's world-class, highly automated and roboticized facility, ensuring excellence in productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Lead plant start-up readiness, commissioning support, and transition to stable production (people, process, equipment).
  • Build and execute the operational ramp-up plan (capacity, labor model, shift patterns, training, OEE targets) in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Implement and champion lean manufacturing, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production and minimize waste in building components, including wall panels, floors, ceilings and assembled modules.
  • Use production KPIs (quality, throughput, scrap, downtime, labor efficiency) to drive corrective actions and sustained improvement.
  • Lead root cause analyses and corrective action planning for manufacturing issues, collaborating with engineering, quality, and maintenance teams.
  • Support new product development and process changes by integrating advanced manufacturing technologies and scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance teams and other appropriate teams to support equipment commissioning, troubleshooting, and process enhancements.
  • Supervise and coordinate production teams, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure full compliance with all safety protocols, industry regulations, and company policies, while promoting a safe, inclusive, and engaging work environment through consistent adherence to procedures and active participation in safety programs.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation within the building components manufacturing team.
  • Provide mentorship and training to production staff, promoting skill development and career growth.
  • Perform other duties as required.


What you bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Manufacturing Technology or a related field.
  • 10 or more years of progressive manufacturing or industrial operations experience, minimum three years in a manufacturing leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience with automated and roboticized manufacturing equipment for building components.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and mentor a production team in a fast-paced unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in production data analysis and project management.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and decisive with a demonstrated capability in navigating ambiguity
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.


Bonus Points
  • Experience in large-scale modular construction and panelized building components.
  • Experience in setting up new manufacturing lines or plants.
  • P. Eng., Lean Six Sigma, PMP designations.
