Job Overview

The Supply Planning Manager is responsible for leading all Supply planning activities including development and execution of supply plans that ensure optimal product availability while balancing inventory levels, production capacity, and cost efficiency. This role plays a critical part in aligning demand forecasts with manufacturing, procurement, and distribution strategies that will support business objectives while at the same time driving service excellence by ensuring total customer satisfaction.

Reporting to the Director of Materials, this position partners cross-functionally with Production, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Sales, and Marketing to ensure synchronization between demand, supply, and capacity. The role focuses on optimizing product availability by aligning production schedules with customer requirements, improving forecast accuracy, and proactively mitigating risks related to material availability and supply disruptions.

The ideal candidate brings strong operational expertise across multiple areas of the supply chain, including supply planning, procurement, production scheduling, and customer service, along with a continuous improvement mindset to enhance material flow, operational efficiency, and overall site performance across multiple manufacturing locations.

A Day In The Life

  • Oversee and monitor supply planning and execution to ensure alignment with production schedules, customer demand, and business priorities
  • Driving alignment across Purchasing, Production, Operations, and Sales to ensure synchronization between demand, supply, and capacity
  • Monitoring demand signals, material availability, and capacity constraints, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to protect production continuity
  • Guiding the team in resolving material shortages, expedites, and supply disruptions, ensuring timely and effective response to operational challenges
  • Overseeing inventory strategy and execution, including forecasting, safety stock optimization, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy initiatives
  • Supporting new product introductions, engineering changes, and material transitions, ensuring seamless integration into production
  • Partnering with warehouse and logistics leadership to maintain efficient material flow, storage practices, and inventory control
  • Driving performance through data, tracking and analyzing key metrics such as inventory turns, on-time delivery, shortages, schedule attainment, backlog, and past due orders
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives that reduce costs, improve efficiency, and optimize working capital across the supply chain
  • Providing data-driven insights and recommendations to support operational decisions, resource allocation, and long-term planning
  • Work closely with Director of Supply Chain on overall inventory
  • Liaison between product management, finance, external suppliers, and order entry team with respect to order scheduling to meet customer needs

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in supply planning, materials management, production planning, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment with (3+ years) in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and inventory control processes
  • Demonstrated ability to balance customer service levels with inventory optimization and cost control
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to influence without direct authority
  • Experience managing material shortages, supply disruptions, and capacity constraints in a fast-paced environment
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience driving process efficiency and cost reduction initiatives
