Full Job Description
Overview

Veeco is seeking an execution-driven Planner/Scheduler - Manufacturing to support manufacturing operations for existing products at our Somerset, NJ facility. This role plays a critical part in keeping production on track by owning short-term schedules and work order execution, responding to daily changes on the shop floor, and ensuring products are built and delivered on time.

The position sits within Manufacturing Operations and works closely with Manufacturing Supervisors, Production Managers, and Supply Chain partners to manage priorities, resolve constraints, and recover at-risk work orders. The role combines hands-on production scheduling and shop-floor production control, with a clear emphasis on decision-making, schedule ownership, and execution, rather than coordination alone.

Success in this role comes from staying connected to the shop floor, acting quickly when issues arise, and driving results through disciplined planning and follow-through. This is a Manufacturing Operations role, not a Supply Chain or Procurement position, supporting multiple build projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Own daily work order management, including release, prioritization, sequencing, and closure in SAP.
  • Execute and adjust short-term production schedules based on real-time shop floor conditions.
  • Monitor open, in-process, and late work orders; drive timely completion and recovery actions.
  • Re-prioritize and reschedule work orders to address material shortages, rework, and capacity constraints.
  • Ensure accurate work order data in SAP (status, lead times, priorities, and completions).
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing to align job priorities and resolve execution issues on the floor.
  • Act on MRP exception messages to maintain flow and prevent delays in work orders.
  • Support implementation of ECNs and MRB dispositions within active work orders.
  • Communicate clear status updates and risks impacting work order completion and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Operations, or related focus; or an equivilent combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Planning, Scheduling, or Production Control, preferably in a complex electromechanical equipment manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience building and adjusting production schedules and owning work order execution.
  • Strong understanding of MRP outputs as execution signals, not long-range supply planning.
  • Experience supporting low-volume, long-lead production strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience utilizing SAP MRP to support material planning, inventory management, production scheduling, and supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong production execution mindset with the ability to make frequent, time-sensitive scheduling decisions.
  • Comfortable working directly with Manufacturing Supervisors and Project Managers on the shop floor.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a bias toward action and schedule recovery.
  • Detail-oriented with strong ownership of work orders and commitments.
  • Clear, concise communicator with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office tools.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, WIP control, and production flow preferred.

Salary and BenefitsThe expected salary range for this position is $77,126-$97,693, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
