Job Description

The Planner III - Master Scheduling provides senior-level integrated master scheduling support for major shipbuilding programs across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and trials. The role develops and maintains complex resource-loaded schedules, supports forecasting, risk analysis, EVMS, and cross-functional integration activities, while serving as an independent planning expert and key resource to planning leadership and project teams.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

What you'll do

• Utilize Primavera P6 to develop and maintain Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 schedules across multiple projects and interfaces, supporting integrated planning, forecasting, and management reporting.
• Develop and maintain detailed Level 3 and Level 4 schedules for Engineering, Procurement, Build, Commissioning, and Test & Trials activities, managing complex logic, assumptions, and interdependencies.
• Develop and maintain IMS to support program execution and performance reporting.
• Support baseline and re baseline planning activities and ensure schedule changes are appropriately incorporated into the IMS.
• Support implementation of approved Program Management Baseline Change Requests (PMBCRs) within Primavera P6 and related planning systems.
• Support Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA) activities by working with project teams and external stakeholders to:
  • Gather and validate schedule risk inputs
  • Review assumptions and logic quality
  • Support development of risk-adjusted schedule outputs
  • Assist with scenario evaluations and mitigation planning
• Apply judgment in balancing uncertainty, constraints, and trade-offs to support risk-informed schedule analyses and forecasting activities.
• Develop and maintain integrated resource profiles and resource-loaded schedules within Primavera P6 to support capacity assessments, forecasting, and EVMS requirements.
• Develop and maintain IFS project structures, WBS elements, and planning interfaces required to support production planning and shop order assignment.
• Support and maintain effective schedule data interfaces between Primavera P6 and ERP/MRP systems, ensuring consistency and analytical readiness.
• Prepare and distribute advanced schedule analyses, reports, forecasts, and performance metrics.
• Provide advanced planning and scheduling insights to support the Planning Lead, Team Supervisor, Program Controls, and leadership teams in program decision-making.
• Maintain and enhance assigned portions of the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) to support EVMS, resource planning, automated metrics, and risk-informed reporting.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 5+ years of planning and scheduling experience in a large manufacturing environment, preferably shipbuilding.
• Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining Integrated Master Schedules using Primavera P6.
• Experience supporting resource-loaded scheduling and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
• Experience supporting Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA) activities is considered an asset.
• Certification in Planning, Production Control, Project Management, or Risk Analysis is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of shipbuilding operations and cross-functional interdependencies.
• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, including schedule integration and complex logic development.
• Experience supporting Schedule Risk Analysis activities is an asset.
• Experience with Primavera Risk Analysis (PRA) or similar probabilistic schedule risk analysis tools is considered an asset.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems in a large manufacturing environment.
• Solid working knowledge of EVMS and schedule-driven performance management.
• Strong analytical judgment, with the ability to interpret complex schedule data and communicate insights.
• High level of collaboration and stakeholder engagement capability.
• Ability to work independently on complex planning assignments while serving as a trusted senior planning resource.

The estimated salary for this position is $93,984 - $135,102. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
