About the Role

The Planner, Forestry supports planning, coordination, and oversight of ATCO's vegetation management and wildfire mitigation program. Working with our Asset Management team, you'll contribute to long-term planning, regulatory filings, wildfire mitigation initiatives, planning activities, and financial management that help strengthen system resiliency and support reliable power delivery across Alberta.

  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the vegetation management program.
  • Maintain a multi-year planning schedule that supports program needs and yearly goals.
  • Track and report on key metrics to measure program performance and outcomes.
  • Ensure annual vegetation plans meet regulatory requirements and company commitments.
  • Support wildfire mitigation planning by helping develop planning tools, operational forecasts, and continuous program improvements.
  • Lead or support planning projects within the Asset Management team that strengthen vegetation management and wildfire mitigation practices through analysis, reporting, and collaboration.
  • Develop, negotiate, and manage contracts and service agreements.
  • Work with teams across the organization to identify opportunities to coordinate work, share information, and improve planning.


What you Bring:
  • A degree in Forestry, Environmental Sciences, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Eligibility for registration with the Alberta Association of Forest Management Professionals.
  • Minimum five years of experience supporting electrical systems, vegetation management, wildfire mitigation, or related utility planning.
  • Project management and contractor management experience.
  • Experience using Power BI and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong business and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and work effectively with diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with vegetation management planning, wildfire mitigation, or utility right-of-way planning is considered an asset.
