Role Overview

The Planner is responsible for ownership of Open-to-Buy, replenishment planning, demand forecasting, inventory productivity, and key-item forecasting. This role will partner cross-functionally across Merchandising, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to drive in-stock performance, inventory efficiency, and profitable sales growth.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the VP of Planning to own Open-to-Buy (OTB), ensuring inventory investments align with sales and margin forecasts, and inventory objectives by category.
  • Build and present seasonal targets and inventory recommendations by category to support revenue growth, inventory productivity, and appropriate category penetration.
  • Compile and analyze style/color/size-level forecasts for key item private label replenishment programs, selling data to support demand planning, replenishment, assortment decisions, and inventory management.
  • Own replenishment planning for core branded and never-out-of-stock (NOS) programs, including reorder recommendations based on sales trends, inventory levels, lead times, and business objectives.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain target in-stock rates while balancing inventory productivity, turn, and service levels.
  • Identify product opportunities, inventory gaps, and demand shifts; recommend actions to improve sales, forecast accuracy, and inventory performance.
  • Work cross-functionally with Merchandising, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Production, and Finance teams to forecast sales, inventory, revenues, returns, promotions, and markdowns.
  • Own weekly business reporting, including Monday business recaps, top-line sales performance, inventory productivity, forecast updates, and risk/opportunity identification.
  • Support monthly forecasting and business review processes, providing clear recommendations and actionable insights to leadership.
  • Partner with Merchandising to execute end-of-season inventory strategies and reduce aged inventory exposure.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance forecasting accuracy, reporting efficiency, inventory visibility, and cross-functional workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in merchandise or demand planning and allocation
  • Retail Math proficiency a must
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
  • Team player and problem solver in a demanding deadline driven environment
  • Motivated, proactive, and highly organized
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to reach supported conclusions and make robust recommendations


This a hybrid role, with 4 days in our Secaucus, NJ office.

PAY RATE: $90,000/yr-$125,000/yr
