Job Description

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills and CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic (CTC) in San Antonio, TX, are seeking a Board Certified/Eligible Advanced Gastroenterologist to join our newly launched, employed CTC GI group. As part of a health system with a legacy dating back to 1869, Westover Hills is a Level III trauma center featuring 250 acute-care beds and handling approximately 11,000 adult admissions annually. We are transitioning from outsourced coverage to an internal, dedicated employed model to capture massive existing demand, including roughly 5,000 annual GI consults generated by our general surgery group alone. The facility is fully equipped with state-of-the-art GI labs featuring Olympus scopes, currently performing advanced procedures such as EUS, ERCP, and POEM with zero technological limitations. Join a robust on-campus ecosystem with strong synergy alongside Interventional Radiology, Texas Oncology, and specialized surgical groups.

Position Details

  • Specialty: Advanced Gastroenterology / Gastroenterology
  • Schedule: 7-on / 7-off inpatient schedule with 182 guaranteed shifts per year (No call required)
  • Scope: Inpatient GI coverage, consults, and advanced procedures (EUS, ERCP, POEM) with future expansion into outpatient volume.
  • Growth Opportunity: Ground-floor opportunity to shape a brand-new employed GI service line, transitioning through a phased rollout from inpatient coverage to a multi-physician practice with potential future joint-venture Outpatient Endoscopy Center development.
  • Support Team: Dedicated APP support including one APP focused on the clinic and one supporting the hospitalist team and follow-ups, alongside specialized GI lab staff and Olympus scope technology.
  • Referral Base: Massive built-in referral pipeline backed by a ~900,000 catchment area, a massive network of primary care physicians, and an aggressive goal to add 50 more PCPs over the next 2-3 years.
  • Facilities: Level III Trauma center, 4 ORs, 1 general procedure room, 2 dedicated advanced GI endoscopy labs performing ~240 procedures a month, and a major $300 million hospital expansion.

City Details

  • Exceptional family-friendly master-planned communities, top-tier local schools, and vibrant neighborhoods in the Alamo City.
  • Rich cultural history, world-renowned dining, and a thriving arts scene across San Antonio.
  • Texas lifestyle featuring no state income tax, warm weather, and close proximity to the Texas Hill Country.
