Full Job Description
CT Surgeon- Lankenau Heart Institute

The Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery of Main Line Health, a large tertiary health system located on Philadelphia's suburban Main Line, seeks a full-time Faculty Cardiac Surgeon for our established coronary revascularization program - one of the most advanced in the region. In addition, the successful surgeon will play a leadership role in our Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) and MCS programs.

The incumbent will be primarily responsible for working with the cardiac surgical and cardiology teams to maintain and grow the cardiac surgical program with a focus on:
  • Heart failure/VAD
  • Advanced coronary revascularization techniques including on/off-pump CABG
  • Multi-arterial grafting
  • Robotic/MID-CABG and hybrid CABG/PCI options

The surgeon will provide coverage of the cardiac surgery service and is expected to have experience in performing general cardiothoracic procedures and on-call duties.

Qualified Candidates Are Required To Have:
  • Completed an approved fellowship program and certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) or foreign equivalent
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Pennsylvania
  • Early and mid-career surgeons with focused interest on complex coronary revascularization (CABG) and VAD surgery are encouraged to apply
  • Experience in on-pump, off-pump, and multi-arterial CABG is required
  • Experience in Robotic CABG and MID-CABG approaches is preferred but not required. Senior mentorship can be provided by renowned CABG surgeon, Dr. Francis Sutter
  • Proven ability to collaborate and effectively communicate within an interdisciplinary team and with referring physicians to provide high-quality patient care
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with families and patients regarding plan of care
  • Demonstrate orientation toward providing evidence-based, patient-centered care, quality and process improvement, and team building
  • Possess proven leadership skills, outstanding verbal and written communication skills; experience with EMR is a significant plus
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
