Summary: The Department of Anesthesia at Westchester Medical Center is looking to add a caring and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to our growing team. In this clinical consultative role, the PA will be part of a multidisciplinary team, working alongside anesthesiologists, surgeons, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and other medical professionals to manage hospitalized patients suffering from acute pain.
Role Highlights: - Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and perioperative evaluations within the Acute Pain Service.
- Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds-presenting patient updates, contributing to clinical decisions, and ensuring seamless implementation of care plans.
- Recommend, order, and manage multimodal pain therapies, including pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches such as local anesthetic, lidocaine, and ketamine infusions.
- Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic studies and lab results.
- Perform focused histories and physicals (H&Ps), and develop individualized, evidence-based care plans.
- Manage and monitor epidural and peripheral nerve catheters in collaboration with the Regional Anesthesia team.
- Maintain meticulous and timely documentation in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
- Serve as an educational resource for patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff on pain management strategies.
- Participate in ongoing research and quality improvement initiatives within the Department of Anesthesiology.
What We're Looking For: - Board certified Physician Assistant who possesses, or is eligible to obtain, an applicable NYS license
- Ideal candidates will have prior inpatient pain management or inpatient medicine experience but motivated new graduates are encouraged to apply
- Must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Candidates with active BLS/ACLS certifications
