Full Job Description
Duties Description The Physician Assistant (PA) will work under the supervision of a licensed Physician and be responsible for obtaining, reviewing, and updating individual patient histories and medical records. The PA will conduct physical examinations, order and review diagnostic tests, write medical orders, determine or confirm diagnoses, and treat a variety of health conditions.

The incumbent will establish treatment objectives, discuss abnormal findings with the Physician, and prescribe medications, treatments, and medical devices.

The Physician Assistant will educate and counsel individuals and families regarding illnesses, medications, tests, and treatment goals and procedures.

They will function as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team, attend meetings, and serve on committees to improve individual outcomes, while collaborating with other health care providers and organizations to ensure continuity of care.

The PA will perform utilization reviews for proposed medications, procedures, treatments, testing, and durable medical equipment requests to determine medical necessity.

They will perform research, writing, and communications consistent with their professional training to facilitate the development of medical treatment guidelines, formularies, fee schedules and other such tools to promote best clinical practices.

Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive (NY HELPS) Minimum Qualifications: Licensed and currently registered as a Physician Assistant by the New York State Education Department or possess a limited permit to practice as a Physician Assistant in New York State.

Additional Comments We are a 126-bed long term skilled care nursing facility providing care to the Veterans of our community.

NOTES:
1. If you are appointed with a limited permit, you have one year from the date your permit was issued to obtain your license. Failure to do so will result in removal from the position.

2. Continued employment as a Physician Assistant is dependent upon maintenance of current registration. Loss of license or current registration will result in action taken to remove you from the position.

Consideration will be given to part-time (50% or greater)

6:15 AM - 2:45 PM shift

One permanent, competitive full-time appointment, or non- competitive full-time appointment via HELPS.

Posted salary range ($134,650 to $134,650) includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for grade 23, and a geographic pay differential of $25,000.
