Full Job Description

We are currently searching for aPhysician Assistantto work withone of our Providersat ourOrthoCarolinaHipAndKneeoffice locationin Charlotte.

ThePhysician Assistantis responsible forproviding medical care as delegated byOrthoCarolinaphysician(s). Responsibilities may includeassistingthe physician in both the office and hospital setting, independent clinics seeing patients with a variety of orthopedic injuries and illnesses,assistingin the operating room as needed, and performing emergency room and floor consultations.

Essential Functions:

  • Examinespatient, performs comprehensive physicalexamination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.

  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons/staff.

  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Assesses,appliesand/or removes a variety of orthopedic casts, splints, and immobilization devices.

  • Serves as assist-at-surgeryfor orthopedic procedures.

  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, appliesappropriate codesand charges for service, andassistsin provision of continuity of care.

  • Dictates patient records including discharge summaries, history and physical evaluations, operative procedure notes,consultationsand office visit notes.Documentspatient information and care provided in patientrecord.Usescomputerto access/enter needed data.

  • Rounds on hospital inpatients as directed by supervising physician(s) to hospitals assigned and performs emergency room and floor consultations as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Accurately evaluate patient problems in person or via phone andprovidingappropriate advice,interventionor referral.

  • Skill in evaluating and revising care plans based on patient changes.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program.

  • Current in the following:

  • North Carolina PA license

  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

  • Prior experience in the field of orthopedics is preferred but notrequired.

  • Prior experience as aphysician assistantis preferred but notrequired.
