Full Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Physician Assistant (PA)

REPORTS TO: Director of Medical Services or Director of Pediatrics & Women's Health

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

The Physician Assistant participates in delivering health care services as an assistant or extender to the primary care physician.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following information is considered the definition of essential functions but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The Physician Assistant (PA) may be reassigned duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other staffing reasons.

1. Review the work records and practices of the health care delivered at least every two weeks with the collaborating physician.

2. Delivers health care services and treatments, administers, dispenses, and prescribes drugs as delegated by the physician.

3. Provides after-hours coverage for urgent health care problems for health center patients on a rotational on-call basis.

4. Instructing patients and their families about lifestyle changes and self-care techniques that complement treatment plans

5. Referring patients to specialists as needed

OTHER DUTIES:
• Practices Evidence Base Medicine.
• Uses electronic health records for documentation.
• Completes and signs encounter note(s) within 24-48 hours.
• Orders Lab test(s) in the electronic health record.
• Reviews and signs/dates lab test results daily in electronic health records and printed results, when indicated.
• Reviews and signs/dates radiology reports daily.
• Follows recall policy for abnormal tests.
• Uses electronic health records for prescribing medication via e-prescribing and to document patient's medications.
• Participates in the health center's Performance Improvement program.
• Assists in the formulation and implementation of the health center's health care plan.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
• Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant school.

Experience:
• A minimum of 2 years of experience recommended

TransportationRequirement:

  • Must have Reliable Transportation

  • Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
