Description & Requirements

Maximus is seeking a Physical Therapist (PT) to provide direct-access evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and injury mitigation support for Special Operations Forces (SOF) personnel. The PT serves as an independent licensed practitioner and integral member of the Physical Domain program, helping optimize mission readiness, physical performance, and musculoskeletal health. This role includes clinical care, program support, data reporting, staff supervision, and advisement to POTFF, medical, and command leadership.

U.S. citizenship is required. Candidates must possess an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret s ecurity clearance as required for contract performance. This position is pending upon contract award.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the leadership with the day-to-day running of the core functional areas to ensure compliance with the prime contract, all subsequent amendments, program business rules, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Analyzes daily, weekly, and monthly reports for performance measurement and efficiencies
- Participates with project and executive management to establish strategic plans, objectives, initiatives, and work plans
- Assists the leadership in efforts to facilitate a functional, motivated, and cohesive project team
- Directly supervises and manages key Project staff as determined by the leadership
- Works with Project and executive management to develop, monitor and revise performance goals and objectives for the project and staff. Monitors achievement of those goals
- Provides direction to team members and resolves problems in a timely and professional manner
- Assists in the creation and implementation of innovative methodologies, process improvements and corrective action plans to continually streamline and improve project operations, outcomes, and quality.
- Develops, modifies, and executes project policies, ensuring all project team members comply

-Provide comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of neuromusculoskeletal conditions.

-Function as a direct-access care provider by evaluating and treating clients without referral, within approved clinical privileges.

-Develop and implement proactive injury mitigation strategies, including risk factor identification, targeted interventions, and unit-specific programs.

--Support programs designed to optimize physical readiness and reduce musculoskeletal injury.

-Provide post-operative evaluation and rehabilitative care, including development of plans of care consistent with clinical practice guidelines and evidence-based medicine.

-Provide direct clinical supervision of PT Technicians and PT Assistants, as directed and within applicable scopes of practice.

-Participate in periodic meetings with POTFF and other staff to review client care and identify process improvement opportunities.

-Advise POTFF, Physical Domain leadership, medical leadership, and command leadership on sports medicine, injury mitigation, rehabilitation, human performance research, supplies, equipment, and related administrative matters.

-Participate in medical and clinical quality management, quality assurance, and client safety procedures.

-Assist with development and updates to criteria-based job descriptions, performance standards, clinical practice guidelines, training materials, and in-service training.

-Submit fiscal and resource input to POTFF, medical, and/or command leadership.

-Perform other duties within the scope of the PT position as assigned by POTFF leadership, the Physical Domain Manager and/or Coordinator, USSOCOM HQ, and POTFF staff.

-Collect, document, and report required data in applicable enterprise platforms, including HPDMS and the Electronic Health Record, as directed.

Minimum Requirements

- Master's degree in relevant field of study and 7+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current licensed therapist valid in the state of practice is required.

- Education and licensure requirements are based on program contract requirements and are outlined in job posting

- Master's degree in physical therapy from a Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)-accredited institution; doctoral degree preferred.

- Current physical therapy license and ability to practice within applicable state licensing board requirements.

- Certification through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) as an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) or Sports Certified Specialist (SCS), or certification through the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) as an Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC), unless an approved exception applies.

- Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrable accumulated experience as a Physical Therapist with individual athletes and groups of athletes at the NCAA Division I, Olympic, professional sports, USAF CRAFT, USAF SWTW, and/or SOF Operator levels in applicable settings.

- Experience must reflect direct support to high-performance or tactical populations and may include paid, full-time government civilian or contractor experience at non-SOF Combat Arms, fixed-wing fighter units, U.S. Army H2F, and EOD units when performed as an embedded, on-site staff member.

Preferred Requirements

- Doctoral degree in physical therapy.

- Experience in manual therapy, dry needling, and joint manipulation.

- Fellowship training in sports, orthopedics, or manual therapy.

- Completion of an orthopedic, manual therapy, or sports-related residency, subject to review and approval requirements.
