Job Title: Physical Therapist

Hours per Shift: 8 hours (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, one late shift)
Experience: 1+ years of acute care experience required
License: Physical Therapist in State of Employment or Physical Therapist license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact
Certifications: Basic Life Support (AHA) Required
Must-Have: Previous experience providing direct patient care in outpatient, inpatient, or inpatient rehab unit preferred
Description:
Evaluates patients presenting or referred to physical therapy by completing initial evaluations within time standards.
Applies appropriate diagnostic and prognostic testing for musculoskeletal, neurological, and neuromuscular conditions.
Utilizes standardized testing to determine levels of disability and track outcomes over the patient care experience.
Performs a variety of best practice and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address the unique rehabilitation needs of each patient.
Establishes appropriate treatment plans with measurable and attainable goals and time frames by collaborating with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
Selects and implements therapy activities per plan of care to ensure that patient, family, and therapy goals are met.
Recognizes individual limitations and capabilities and utilizes available resources.
Evaluates patients' learning styles and appropriately teaches skills and techniques required for participation in physical therapy.
Consults with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate activity or program based on patient needs and capabilities.
Evaluates assigned patients and develops treatment plans, including specific goals and activities, reassessing and modifying plans as necessary.
Communicates effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians concerning physical medicine and rehabilitation services.
Documents all patient care activities, including evaluations and detailed treatment records per standards of practice and regulatory requirements.
Facilitates preparation of patient schedules and reports per medical records procedures through timely completion of documentation.
Participates in personal, professional, and program development by attending department services and meetings.
Assists in training physical therapy and physical therapist assistant students and other personnel.
Acts as a resource for new staff members by sharing information and providing education.
Adheres to the professional code of ethics and all accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrates effective time management and prioritizes workload to meet productivity requirements.
Demonstrates flexibility in adapting to changing technologies, policies, regulations, and staffing.
Consistently demonstrates flexibility by floating to other areas or working flexible schedules to meet the needs of patients and the department.
