As a PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST (NUCLEAR) at the GS-0080-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Analyzes nuclear weapons security risk factors and prepares recommendations for OSD on potential vulnerabilities to be tested and/or addressed.
- Prepare and brief senior leadership on physical security risks and recommendations for policy implications
- Oversee contractor support to force-on-force events, confirming task alignment with applicable contract requirements
- Serves as the technical and policy advisor to multiple DoD projects, programs, committees, and groups
- Consults with Service staffs, DoD , DOE as applicable, and other government agencies on all nuclear weapon security related matters.

- The employee must be willing to comply with each Combatant Command (COCOM) travel medical requirement to include vaccinations.

- A valid driver's license is required to support travel requirements.
QualificationsYou may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
- Coordinating and implementing physical security operations, tactics, and procedures designed to protect highly sensitive national assets, critical infrastructure, or high-value materials.
- Analyzing and assessing physical security policies and regulatory frameworks to identify operational gaps, evaluate risk factors, and draft recommendations for policy updates or system improvements.
- Preparing and delivering structured technical briefings, analytical reports, and risk assessments to senior leadership and diverse stakeholders regarding security posture, compliance, and strategic alignment.
- Planning, coordinating, and executing operational security exercises or testing protocols to validate system effectiveness, identify vulnerabilities, and ensure readiness against defined threat scenarios.
- Interpreting and applying complex security directives at an intermediate or headquarters level to align multi-site programs, draft standard operating procedures, and coordinate physical security initiatives across organizational boundaries.

This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date).
