POSITION OVERVIEWThe Pharmacist will oversee the daily production and maintain quality and service levels of all inbound and outbound prescriptions in a mail order pharmacy. Along with the members of the pharmacy team, the Pharmacist will provide high levels of customer service to patients to ensure they have a positive and exceptional experience in filling their prescriptions. The Pharmacist will also be a key contributor in the continued development of the pharmacy program and policies to ensure successful implementation and execution of the pharmacy's strategies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Verify prescriptions at any point of the workflow.
- Maintain the standards of the pharmacy according to policies and procedures as well as Board of Pharmacy regulations.
- Pack and dispense prescriptions.
- Maintain daily production, quality and service levels.
- Conduct patient consultations and answer prescription status questions.
- Manage and oversee the work of Pharmacy Technician Supervisors and Pharmacy Technicians.
- Additional responsibilities may include:
- Interpreting physicians' prescriptions.
- Contacting doctors, other prescribers and/or patients to verify information on prescriptions, such as prescription signature and drug name, in order to expedite processing of orders.
- Contacting physicians for new and/or transfer authorization.
- Ensure quality assurance of the work performed by Pharmacy Technician Supervisors and Pharmacy Technicians.
- Consulting with patients, if applicable, regarding the use of medications and potential drug interactions.
- Backing up other pharmacists as needed and performing additional duties as assigned by management.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS- BS degree or PharmD degree in Pharmacy, with 1-3 years of experience as a pharmacist required.
- Must be licensed in the state of New Jersey or eligible for licensure reciprocation. Multiple state licensure a plus
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate program details to patients on the phone.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy processes and procedures.
- Ability to build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with patients.
- Ability to tackle problems and work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Highly proficient to advanced PC skills, including Windows-based applications.
- Strong focus on quality and customer service.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and simultaneously manage multiple priorities.
