Duties

Help

Serves as the Transitional care Pharmacist for Bureau of Prisons' (BOP) inmates transitioning from correctional institutions to Residential Reentry Centers (RRC) and/or Home Confinement (HC).

Responsible for the accurate and timely management, development, organization, and implementation of programs and procedures necessary to ensure adequate medically necessary healthcare is available for community designated inmates.

Responsible for regular communication with community contract providers, RRC personnel, RRC residents, BOP physicians and healthcare providers, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) providers and Contracting Officer Representatives (COR), Regional Community Treatment Coordinators, and Community Treatment Service (CTS) providers, and BOP pharmacy fill site staff to ensure all aspects of community based medically necessary healthcare is appropriately available and timely.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Basic Requirements:

Education:

• A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the
  https://www.acpe-accredit.org/"> Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the
  http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/"> U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

OR

• 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, Ph.D., Pharm.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree.

AND

Licensure:

Applicants also must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

AND

Medical Requirement:

Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

NOTE: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied.

All qualified referred candidates will undergo a credentialing process prior to employment with the Bureau of Prisons.

This process includes validation of examinations, licensure, education, internship and residency.

Additional information

Although 5 U.S.C. 3307 established a maximum entry age for original appointment to a position in a Bureau of Prisons institution, Applicants can be considered up to age 39. If you are above the maximum entry age and have prior federal law enforcement coverage, you MUST submit an SF-50 to verify prior coverage.

Qualified Preference Eligible Veterans may be exempt from meeting the maximum age. Please refer to the Required Documents Section for the appropriate documentation to submit to validate veteran eligibility.

Special Conditions of Employment Section:

Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a pre-employment and panel interview, urinalysis, physical, and background investigation.

All applicants are subject to, and must satisfactorily pass all screening requirements in relation to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit check.

All applicants not currently working in an institution will be required to complete a qualification inquiry regarding convictions of misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence in order to be authorized to carry a firearm.

Successful completion of the "Introduction to Correctional Techniques", three-week training course at Glynco, Georgia is required.
