Full Job Description
JOB OVERVIEW:

The Pharmacist is responsible to practice the profession of pharmacy in accordance with all Florida statutes and administrative codes for counseling, dispensing and other duties enumerated in the law with the goal of satisfactory patient outcomes. Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing, directing and supervising the workflow of pharmacy technicians and staff. Responsible for ensuring accurate dispensing and compounding of medications, review and verification of prescribed medications within regulatory guidelines and adhering to Northeast Florida Health Services, Inc. (NEFHS) policies and procedures. Supports the efficient workflow of the pharmacy and assists the pharmacy manager/Director of Pharmacy in identifying ways to optimize pharmacy financials, inventory management and enhance customer experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Reviews, interprets and evaluates medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential or actual drug-related problems and ensures prescriptions are filled and dispensed accurately
  • Reviews drug histories and patient profiles to ensure proper and safe drug therapy; documents interventions and their outcomes for use in drug therapy quality improvement efforts
  • Provides individualized patient consultation, drug information and education to medical staff and patients
  • Provides direct supervision, training and development of pharmacy staff
  • Responsible for the proper and safe storage of drugs and maintaining inventory and legal records to comply with state, federal and DEA regulations
  • Ensures the accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve customer issues and prevent payment rejections; participates in third party audits
  • Adheres to NEFHS policies and procedures including all HIPPA regulations and ensures compliance with the 340B program, DEA, Florida Board of Pharmacy, federal and state laws
  • Assists and supports the pharmacy manager/Director of Pharmacy in analyzing performance data including pharmacy financials, customer service and implementation of procedures for pharmacy asset protection and inventory management
  • Perform other duties as assigned or necessary
  • Treats patients, staff and visitors with courtesy, sensitivity and respect
  • Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality
  • Follows safety and OSHA requirements
  • Maintain/improve clinical skills to provide optimal medication therapy management
  • Adheres to the NEFHS dress code and maintains a professional appearance
  • Attends required meetings, training and participates on committees as requested
  • Ensures optimum employee satisfaction by maintaining a work environment of trust, open communication and respect for each employee as an individual, and by identifying and working to fulfill the needs and goals of each assigned employee within the work environment


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD
  • Clear and active Florida pharmacist license
  • One year of retail/community pharmacy experience (Preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Excel), pharmacy software and electronic health record

  • Interact positively with patients to provide information and resolve patient concerns with compassion and empathy
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented
  • Proactive with adept problem-solving skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, staff and the public
  • Ability to learn essential functions of RX30 and eCW software.


ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Exposure to infectious and contagious illnesses
  • Exposure to drugs and chemicals: pesticides
  • Must utilize universal precautions in clinical or exposure situations as prescribed by federal, state, and local guidelines and/or law
  • Exposure to potentially violent, irate patients


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Sitting for moderate periods of time
  • Walking, bending and reaching with hands and arms
  • Lifting and transporting up to 30 pounds for short to moderate distances
  • Operating automobile for clinic business
  • Operating keyboard equipment (computer, calculator etc.)
  • Reading forms/instructions/technical information
  • Speaking understandably to people of various ages, educational levels, cultural background
