Responsibilities

  • Supervise pharmacy technicians to support pharmacy workflows
  • Oversee accuracy of data entry by pharmacy staff from providers
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information and destruction of related documentation
  • Assist in managing calls from major pharmacy chains and independent pharmacies
  • Oversee the entire prescription transfer process for patients
  • Verify filled prescriptions for accuracy before dispensing
  • Review prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness and drug interactions
  • Counsel patients on new prescriptions and medication use over the phone
  • Collaborate with prescribers to resolve clinical issues
  • Adhere to corporate policies and regulations while performing tasks
  • Work collaboratively with pharmacy leadership and management teams

Full Job Description
Location: Onsite, 400 South Woods Mills Rd, Suite 100, Chesterfield MO

Hours: Fulltime, 40 hrs/week, 4 10 hr shifts, 7am-5pm; Sunday- Wednesday or Wednesday- Saturday

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the supervision of pharmacy technicians in support of the pharmacy manager involved in the pharmacy workflow
  • Oversee data entry by pharmacy staff from providers and receiving pharmacies and insure the quality of the pharmacy technicians work
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information and their records, and destruction of relevant documentation which contains patient information
  • Assist the pharmacy manager in overseeing staff in fielding calls from major pharmacy chains and independent pharmacies across the country
  • Assist the pharmacy manager staff in receiving, processing and transferring patients' prescriptions, and own the success of the transfer end-to-end
  • Perform pharmacist verification of filled prescriptions in a high-volume closed-door fulfillment environment, ensuring accuracy of drug, dose, quantity and labeling prior to dispensing
  • Review and clinically verify new and refill prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness, drug interactions, contraindications, and dosing accuracy
  • Provide proactive patient counseling and medication education via phone, addressing questions related to new prescriptions, refills, side effects, adherence, and proper mediation use
  • Collaborate with prescribers and their offices to clarify prescriptions and address clinical issues that may delay dispensing
  • Perform all tasks in a safe and compliant manner that is consistent with corporate policies as well as State and Federal laws
  • Work collaboratively with St Louis Pharmacy leadership, Pharmacy Technician staff, and corporate management teams

Requirements:
  • Graduated from an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Active Missouri Pharmacy License in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy
  • 0-3 of relevant experience; experience in a mail order, specialty, or closed-door fulfillment pharmacy preferred
  • Active Pharmacy License in any or all of the the following states preferred
    • AK, AL, AR, CA, GA, IA, ID, IL, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MS, NE, OK, OR, SC, TN, TX, VA, WV
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail with high degree of accuracy
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn complex new software
