Job Duties

Position Overview
The Nurse Manager Senior oversees a comprehensive district nursing program. Key responsibilities include:

Managing district nursing operations, including FTE oversight and budget management
Leading long-term staff development and training initiatives
Building and maintaining private and public partnerships
Procuring, administering, and managing grants and external funding sources
Conducting community needs assessments
Allocating resources and ensuring high-quality service delivery
Recruiting, coaching, and supervising nursing staff
Serving as a member of the district management team

VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current year's seasonal influenza vaccination. "Health Care Personnel" are required to maintain timely compliance with all Employee Health requirements, including but not limited to HCP-required immunizations, health screenings, respiratory protections, and relevant trainings, as mandated by organizational policy and applicable regulatory standards.

Recruitment Incentives
This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000, subject to agency approval and completion of all onboarding requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
• Extensive knowledge of nursing management, public health nursing, and practices of public health
• Proven ability to provide effective leadership and operations management; ability to direct subordinate nurse managers and supervisors in achieving agency objectives
• Excellent skills in oral and written communication, community assessment, planning, and staff development
• Considerable ability to collaboratively lead staff, synthesize and interpret data, and communicate effectively with staff, patients, and the public; ability to monitor and evaluate quality assurance of nursing programs; ability to present results and nursing outcomes to internal and external constituencies
• Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification is required

Additional Considerations
• Nursing and senior-level administrative and supervisory experience in public health, as well as experience with the Incident Command System (ICS), is preferred
