Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Permanency Team Supervisor. Under administrative direction, this position will plan, review, and coordinate the activities of a team of professional staff engaged in the provision of child welfare services to children and families. The position will also monitor progress in meeting case goals and objectives and will establish and implement a system for ensuring direct regular clinical review of services is being provided to children and families. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about children and interested in providing leadership of a team of child welfare professionals focused on keeping children safe. Essential Functions

  • Serves as Permanency Team Supervisor which plans, supervises, reviews, and coordinates the activities of a team of professional caseworkers engaged in providing child welfare services to children and families
  • Serves as working supervisor
  • Establishes and maintains effective linkages with the appropriate community and contracted service providers to ensure the provision of child-centered, family focused, community-based services to the maximum extent possible
  • Establishes and implements a team-based program of staff development and training for subordinate staff
  • Explains and enforces agency policies, procedures, state and area statutes, and requirements
  • Attends technical staff conferences to assess needed services
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above


Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a master's degree in social work or a related human services field from a recognized college or university
  • Requires three years of progressively responsible administrative child welfare experience with an MSW OR four years of progressively responsible administrative experience with a master's degree in a related human services field


Specialized Skills

Of the noted years of experience, requires that the experience include at least 2 years in the administration of substitute care services.

Conditions of Employment
