Full Job Description
About the Role

We're looking for a People Ops & Recruiting Lead, reporting to our Head of People, to help us build and scale the operational foundation of our People function. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role sitting at the intersection of program management, recruiting, and HR.

Our People function is currently a team of 1, and we're hitting an inflection point. We're in the middle of rolling out new systems and vendors across HR, IT, and Compliance. We're designing and launching people programs that can grow with our company. We're also hiring, while investing intentionally in AI fluency for every role. We need someone who can be a builder, thinker, and driver across these programs, while keeping our hiring and HR engines running.

What You'll Do

Program Management (~40%)
  • Design and launch our employee engagement survey, then work with leaders to implement high-priority, data-informed initiatives
  • Help train managers and team members through our first company-wide performance review program
  • Use Claude to keep our internal Notion hub updated with our latest people-related announcements, benefits changes, policy updates, etc.
  • Help plan our monthly company-wide All Hands and annual company retreat

Recruiting (~40%)
  • Run full-cycle recruiting for open roles: source candidates, review applications, conduct screens, coordinate interviews, and manage the offer process
  • Partner with hiring managers to build and refine interview plans and scorecards in Ashby
  • Maintain clean, up-to-date pipelines and report on recruiting metrics in Ashby

People Ops (~20%)
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employees and managers on HR questions, policies, and processes
  • Leverage AI tools to automate and stitch together various back-end processes (IT, HR, Compliance), so that we can focus on building a more meaningful onboarding and offboarding experience for our team
  • Partner with our vendors to triage high-priority issues related to payroll, benefits, state registration, IT, and security
  • Manage and monitor the systems and tools that keep our company running: from mail and swag, to IT and compliance

You Might Be a Great Fit If You...
  • Have already integrated AI tools into your daily work and have owned a major systems implementation end-to-end
  • Have done full-cycle recruiting, not just coordination. You know how to source, build a pipeline, and close a strong candidate
  • Thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where you're expected to figure things out and build as you go
  • Are a curious person with a love of learning, and you embrace the opportunity to solve unknown problems from the ground up
  • Care about the people around you and bring genuine warmth and good judgment to your work
  • Have empathy for the autoimmune experience

Bonus Points
  • Direct experience with Gusto, Deel, Ashby, Vanta, and/or IT tools
  • Familiarity with our primary tech stack: Google, Slack, Notion, Claude
  • Background in health-tech or a compliance-heavy industry

What We Offer
  • The opportunity to help design and build the People infrastructure at an early stage from the ground up
  • Direct partnership and mentorship from a seasoned Head of People
  • A base salary range of $115,000 - $130,000: placement within it depends on directly relevant skills and experiences you bring to the role. Additionally, this role includes competitive equity, benefits, and remote work.
  • A team that genuinely cares about each other and the members we serve

At WellTheory, we're committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic team - so if you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't check every box, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be exactly who we're looking for.
