As we continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking a collaborative, strategic, and people-focused People Business Partner to join our Canada Central People Team. This role offers the opportunity to partner with leaders across Ontario, helping shape workforce strategies, strengthen leadership capability, foster employee engagement, and drive business performance through people.

This position will be based within the GTA ideally in our Toronto office, with travel within the region as required.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in the following:

Reporting to the Central Canada Regional People Leader, the People Business Partner serves as a trusted advisor to Business Group Leaders, Operations Managers, Team Leaders, and employees. You will partner closely with leaders to develop and implement people strategies that support business priorities while creating an engaging and high-performing employee experience.

Working collaboratively with GHD's Centres of Excellence, including Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Learning & Development, Total Rewards, Diversity & Inclusion, and HR Systems, you will deliver integrated people solutions that support organizational success.

What you will do:
Strategic Business Partnership
  • Build strong partnerships with business leaders to understand business priorities and workforce challenges.
  • Develop and implement people strategies that support business growth and operational objectives.
  • Provide data-informed insights and recommendations related to workforce planning, retention, engagement, and talent development.
  • Support organizational design, workforce planning, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Champion a culture of inclusion, accountability, and high performance.
Leadership and Talent Development
  • Coach leaders on performance management, employee development, talent assessment, and career planning.
  • Support leadership capability building through feedback, coaching, and development initiatives.
  • Partner with Talent Management colleagues to identify and develop key talent across the region.
  • Facilitate and support employee engagement and development programs.
Employee Relations and HR Advisory
  • Provide advice and guidance on employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, investigations, and workplace concerns.
  • Support leaders through change initiatives while ensuring alignment with employment legislation and company policy.
  • Mitigate organizational risk through proactive issue management and sound HR practices.
  • Act as a trusted first point of contact for employees and leaders on a broad range of people-related matters.
People Programs and Projects
  • Lead or support regional and national People initiatives and projects.
  • Partner with stakeholders to deliver annual People processes, including performance reviews, remuneration reviews, workforce planning, and talent reviews.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance People programs, processes, and employee experiences.
  • Collaborate across the Americas People Team to share best practices and contribute to broader strategic initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline. Previous experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of five years of related experience required.
  • CHRP, CHRL, or an equivalent professional designation is preferred.
  • Experience supporting leaders within a complex, matrixed, or professional services organization is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and employee relations practices required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational change and implementing people initiatives.
  • Exceptional consulting, influencing, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze information, identify trends, and translate insights into practical business solutions.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $130,500. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and adhere to all relevant pay transparency legislation.
