Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Benefits, the Senior Benefits Manager will assist in managing the BDO USA, P.C. benefits and leave of absences (LOA). This role will assist with the design, implementation and development of innovative and cost-effective benefits programs which are aligned with the firm's goals and objectives to ensure that BDO USA, P.C. continues to attract and retain the top-talent needed to remain successful in a competitive market.

Job Duties:
  • Works with the Director of Benefits to manage the firm's benefits and LOA's program
  • Serves as a senior advisor to key stakeholders on BDO's strategy for benefits and LOA's
  • Makes and/or recommends appropriate benefits and LOA-related decisions in accordance with federal and state regulations as well as the firm's policy
  • Collaborates with the Director of Benefits to benchmark and design new benefit and leave programs
  • Helps manage the plan design and maintenance of the benefits and LOA systems
  • Assists with seeking innovative benefits and LOA products to enhance the firm's Total Rewards package within budget
  • Works with the Director of Benefits to monitor vendor performance, internal processes and continually review financials of the benefit plans
  • Manages benefits enrollment cycle, (i.e. new hires, qualified life events (QLE), and annual open enrollment
  • Manages COBRA and retiree health plans
  • Manages audits performed by benefits and LOA team to ensure benefit deductions and payment for LOA are accurate
  • Manages benefits and LOA records to ensure accuracy, compliance and confidentiality
  • Manages conflicts to avoid any risks associated with benefits and LOA's
  • Interacts with internal staff to administer benefits and leaves of absence and respond to questions regarding program eligibility, coverage, processes, and status
  • Collaborates with the Director of Performance & Compensation to obtain direction and guidance regarding significant benefits program changes
  • Partners with the People & Culture Department to provide direction, coaching, and feedback and gather input regarding current benefits and leave of absence programs
  • Coordinates with the Finance Department to ensure accuracy of benefits deductions, payments, repayments, and coding
  • Works with third-party vendors to negotiate and support benefits programs, including insurance offerings
  • Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manages daily operations including any conflicts for benefits and LOA's
  • Develops team members by providing feedback and performance evaluations
  • Manages work schedules to provide best client service experience

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or Finance, required

Experience:
  • 5+ years HR experience in Benefits, required
  • Strong working knowledge of HR policies and practices, required
  • Strong understanding of ERISA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, State and Local Leave laws, HIPAA, Workers Compensation and IRS regulations, required
  • Strong experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining health, welfare, and 401(k) programs, required

License/Certifications:
  • CEBS, preferred

Software:
  • Microsoft Office, required
  • Oracle HCM, required
  • PowerBI, required
  • BSwift, required

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $120,000 - $136,000
Maryland Range: $120,000 - $136,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $120,000 - $136,000
