People and Talent Manager

The People & Talent Manager is a trusted business partner and key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the General Manager and working closely with our Operations Director and Sales Director. This role is responsible for leading all aspects of the employee lifecycle-including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, workers compensation, performance management, compensation, compliance, training, and organizational development-for a diverse workforce spanning warehouse operations, distribution, drivers, sales, and corporate teams.

The ideal candidate is an experienced HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is passionate about building a positive, high-performing workplace culture. This individual serves as both a strategic advisor and operational leader, partnering with managers to develop talent, strengthen employee engagement, ensure legal compliance, and implement people-focused initiatives that support the company's growth and long-term success.

As the organization's HR leader, the People & Talent Manager champions a culture of accountability, safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement while providing guidance and coaching that enables leaders and employees to perform at their best.

POSITION SUMMARY: Our People and Talent Manager is a key member of the leadership team, working closely with the General Manager. They are responsible for staffing, training coordination, development, employee relations, engagement, compliance, and compensation programs. This role also collaborates actively with our Operations Director and Sales Director to support our operations and sales teams.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Build and cultivate strong relationships with team members and leadership to provide expertise on organizational and people-related strategies, ensuring an engaged and motivated workforce.
  • Provide HR advice and consultation to management and employees, including coaching on performance and conflict management, and interpretation of employment policies and procedures.
  • Implement, disseminate, and monitor company policies, programs, and procedures in the areas of training, compensation, compliance, and benefits to attract, retain, and motivate employees.
  • Oversee our Benefits Administrator position
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
  • Manage and oversee all compliance-related matters within the assigned area, including the enforcement of federal and state laws, wage and hour compliance, and company policies. Represent the company in these matters as needed.
  • Foster a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance. Lead the team to embody these values and hold others accountable to this commitment.
  • Manage the talent acquisition process, including the development of job descriptions, sourcing, recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified candidates. Collaborate with managers to understand the skills and competencies required for job openings.
  • Oversee the recording and maintenance of employee information, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and terminations/separations of employment.
  • Oversee Workers' Compensation cases and claims, including direct communication with insurance carriers and clinics
  • Participate in sales staff meetings to assist with and influence personnel-related decisions.
  • Implement succession planning and talent management strategies to support leadership by identifying current talent and anticipating future needs.
  • Collaborate and oversee the Health and Welfare Benefits Administrator to implement new health and wellness programs for the company.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or closely related field.
  • Professional in Human Resources PHR a must. SPHR desired.
  • Minimum of 3 years of directly applicable experience as an HR Generalist or HR Manager who was involved in all aspects of HR.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating warmth, sensitivity to others, and a strong customer service focus both in person and on the phone.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Experience with ADP Workforce now a plus
