Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on patient care for a range of acute pediatric conditions

  • Manage cardiac issues and abdominal pain with appropriate interventions
  • Utilize in-house clinic facilities for IV fluids, DME, and lab work
  • Coordinate direct admissions and specialist referrals for patients
  • Support a team-oriented environment to enhance patient care quality

About the Role

At KidMed, you'll be able to make a difference every day, every patient and with the support of experienced providers and hands-on training to help you grow confidently in pediatric urgent care.
  • Equipment and trained support staff to accommodate patients with acute needs from birth through age 25
  • Opportunity to perform procedures: laceration repairs/multilayer closures, I&D of abscesses, reduction of finger/toe fractures, foreign body removal, ingrown toenails, etc.
  • Ability to treat fevers from the source with work-up down to 29 days old
  • Anaphylaxis treatment and respiratory distress
  • Cardiac issues, chest pain, abdominal pain, vomiting, bloody stools
  • Genitourinary, Neurologic, Ortho, and Derm
  • In-house clinic for: suction, DME, IV fluids, and blood draws, injectable meds, and lab work
  • Support for our providers and their patients with direct admits, navigation of specialist referrals for same/next day follow up, and close ties with local pediatric specialists

Required Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant program
  • Valid license (or eligibility) to practice as a NP/PA in the state of Virginia
  • Valid DEA License (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)
  • Interest or experience in pediatrics
  • Previous experience in emergency or urgent care is a plus, but not required

  • Base pay starts at $40/hour and increases up to $60/hour based on relevant experience.
