Full Job Description
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Duke Department of Pediatrics invites applications for a Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiologist. This position will be based within Duke Children's Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a nationally recognized, academically driven pediatric and congenital heart program with a robust congenital cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology service within a premier academic health system.

Position Overview

The Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiologist will play a central role in the evaluation, procedural management, and longitudinal care planning for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease. The successful candidate will provide expert diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, collaborate closely with congenital cardiac surgery, cardiac imaging, cardiac intensive care, heart failure/transplant, adult congenital cardiology, and multidisciplinary cardiology teams, and contribute to the continued growth of Duke's pediatric and congenital interventional cardiology program.

Qualifications
  • MD, DO, or MD/PhD with board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology
  • Advanced fellowship training or demonstrated expertise in pediatric cardiac catheterization and congenital interventional cardiology
  • Experience performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization for congenital and acquired heart disease across the pediatric and adult congenital populations
  • Strong interest in academic medicine, including clinical program development, education, quality improvement, outcomes initiatives, and research

Candidates with experience in complex congenital interventions, hybrid procedures, procedural innovation, multidisciplinary procedural planning, quality and outcomes initiatives, and collaborative care for patients with congenital heart disease are particularly encouraged to apply.

Clinical and Academic Responsibilities

The Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiologist will:
  • Provide expert diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization for pediatric and adult congenital heart disease
  • Perform and support catheter-based interventions, including septal defect closure, ductal and vascular interventions, valvuloplasty/angioplasty, stent placement, device therapy, and other congenital cardiac procedures appropriate to training and experience
  • Collaborate closely with congenital cardiac surgery, cardiac imaging, cardiac intensive care, anesthesia, neonatology, heart failure/transplant, and adult congenital cardiology teams
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, procedural planning, family counseling, and longitudinal care coordination
  • Contribute to education and mentorship of fellows, residents, advanced practice providers, nurses, technologists, and medical students
  • Support quality improvement, outcomes tracking, research, and innovation in pediatric and congenital interventional cardiology
