Inside the Role

• Manage Daimler Coaches North America PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) /Service center as profit center and safeguard performance targets and financial targets
• Deliver high quality PDI and services to all customers. Make delivery quality and customer satisfaction #1 objective for all workshop personnel
• Lead the workshop staff in managing their daily operations
• Comply with Customer Service & Parts policies and procedures
• Comply with national and local regulations regarding work safety and environmental protection

Position offers a starting salary range of$128,000.00- $164,000.00 USD

What You Drive at DCNA

  • Manage the planning of the import of Tourrider units with expediters/customs in coordination with DCNA and Daimler Buses/MBT
  • Manage and execute the vehicle pickup at the port
  • Completion of the delivery protocol and reporting to the delivery plant in case of damages, or missing parts/systems
  • Plan and managing PDI inspection after receiving the coaches in the PDI center, check for open campaigns and recalls before coach delivery to the customer
  • Planning, budgeting and managing of the PDI installations of the local retrofits, like 110 volt outlets, wheelchair lift etc. according the guidelines. Manage and document warranty start dates with the different suppliers. Document all retrofits in VeDoc
  • In case of later delivery to the customers, manage coach storage, exercise process (storage protocol) and final internal inspection before delivery to the customer (including check for open campaigns and recalls)
  • Manage and record keeping of all documents of the delivery process (delivery protocol, PDI, warranties for the retrofits)
  • Maintain active, timely and accurate CRM records (Novis) and inform Aftermarket and Service Partners about the delivery of each coach
  • Co-ordinate resources, (operational and human) schedules, activities and job flow in the PDI center including job scheduling and labor allocation for day to day operations.
  • Define the investment plan (tools, workshop equipment) in close cooperation with the Head of Aftermarket
  • Define local service strategy in order to cope with business challenges and future customer requests
  • Develop the workshop to a center of competence for coach repairs
  • Implement the required IT system for the repair and maintenance processes
  • Monitor budgeting and forecasting of all workshop activities (profit & loss, general and administrative expenses etc.)
  • Drive the achievement of quantitative and qualitative targets; initiate corrective actions where necessary
  • Ensure that coaches are maintained and repaired (incl. roadside assistance, pre-delivery inspections, retrofits etc.) according to Daimler standards
  • Conduct specific studies (profitability, productivity, quality, planning etc.) at the request of CSP management
  • Monitor and report, feedback product quality situation to Head of Aftermarket, creating of technical products reports (TRP)
  • Define and assign tasks to all team members
  • Monitor and communicate individual and team performances/results to team members
  • Assess staffing needs and define the number of technicians required based on actual PDI and service demand
  • Challenge and support staff and identify areas for development and training needs
  • Follow-up and follow-through of all training needs with personnel department
  • Ensure high quality services to all customers
  • Make customer satisfaction #1 objective to all workshop personnel, provide a service that goes above and beyond customers expectations

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor degree and 8 years of relevant experience in automotive, commercial vehicle industry sales or progressive customer service role, is required.
  • 5 years of proven experience in managing a workshop, PDI center or production plant
  • Leadership and management skills, with an ability to motivate others
  • Understanding and ability to explain complex technical product in details
  • Ability to work with people at various levels from shop floor to senior management
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Proficient in MS Office, typical computer systems / skills
  • Problem-solving: able to use critical and creative thinking to identify and resolve issues with products, programs and orders.
  • Time management and organization: master a variety of organization methods, to handle multiple projects at one time and completing tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity, honesty and accountability.
  • An attached resume is required.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Independent self-starter, able to master various software platforms with minimal direction.
  • Communication: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong professional conversation etiquette.
  • Understanding and ability to explain complex product details and processes, act as a consultant to define most suitable configuration options / capabilities and subsequent processes.
  • Previous experience in a Retail Motor Vehicle Dealership business 6 Car or Truck/Bus
  • CDL with P endorsement a plus
  • German language skills a plus.
