Responsibilities

About the role:

This role is best suited for someone with strong U.S. payroll expertise and experience building efficient global payroll processes. The ideal candidate combines deep payroll and accounting knowledge with exceptional operational discipline and a continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, automate manual activities, and strengthen payroll controls.

You will own end-to-end payroll operations for North America while overseeing global payroll processes through a combination of in-house processing and external payroll providers. This role sits within the Accounting organization and partners closely with HR, Finance, regional payroll teams, and external vendors to ensure payroll is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time. The role also owns global payroll accounting, North America statutory compliance, payroll policies, audit support, and process improvement initiatives that enable the company to scale globally.

Your contribution will be:
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. and Canada.
  • Oversee payroll accounting processes across AMER, EMEA, and APAC, partnering with regional payroll teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all U.S. and Canada payroll-related tax, benefits, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Partner with HR on new hires, terminations, compensation changes, leaves of absence, and payroll policy interpretation.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for employee payroll inquiries and provide technical guidance on payroll matters.
  • Prepare payroll journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and support payroll-related budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Manage payroll controls, maintain payroll policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with internal controls and local regulations.
  • Coordinate payroll-related audits, including the annual 401(k) audit, and manage audit requests with internal teams and external auditors.
  • Administer 401(k) true-up calculations, reconciliations, and funding activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement of global payroll processes, systems, and vendor performance to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

To be successful, we think you need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including experience with a global organization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in U.S. and Canadian payroll processing, payroll tax regulations, and statutory compliance.
  • Hands-on experience processing payroll in UKG (or similar enterprise payroll system).
  • Strong payroll accounting knowledge, including preparation of payroll journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close support.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively partner cross functionally.

Target Compensation Range (US ONLY): 80,000 - 115,000 USD annually. On target compensation refers to the base salary and applicable variable target for this role. The range is an estimate, base pay will ultimately be decided at the offer stage, based on an individual candidate's skills and experience aligned with the needs of the role. Base pay may vary based on several factors including geographic location, role specific qualifications, and seniority.
