As a Pavement / Surfacing Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering innovative, cost-effective pavement solutions while contributing to some of the region's most impactful infrastructure projects. Working alongside experts in a collaborative and high-performing environment, you will help strengthen WSP's reputation as a leader in pavement engineering.
Your Impact- Deliver pavement designs and technical reports that support safe, efficient, and long-lasting transportation infrastructure across Alberta and Western Canada.
- Contribute to pavement engineering projects, ensuring high-quality technical delivery aligned with client and regulatory expectations.
- Analyse pavement performance data and apply methodologies such as AASHTO 1993 and Mechanistic-Empirical Design to inform design decisions.
- Plan and execute pavement investigations, including condition surveys and interpretation of FWD, IRI, rutting, and lifecycle data.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to prepare proposals and support the pursuit of new project opportunities.
- Mentor junior team members, contributing to capability development and fostering technical excellence within the pavement team.
- Strengthen client relationships while supporting business growth across public and private sector infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate field investigations including coring, borehole logging, and material sampling to inform design and rehabilitation strategies.
The Skills That Set You Apart- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (APEGA or Engineers & Geoscientists BC).
- 5+ years of experience in pavement engineering, pavement management, or related infrastructure fields.
- Strong expertise in pavement design principles across flexible, rigid, composite, and gravel pavement structures.
- Proficiency with industry tools such as AASHTO 1993, Pavement ME, StreetPave, and SpectraPave.
- Experience with pavement performance assessment, including both destructive and non-destructive testing methods.
- Working knowledge of construction materials, methods, and Alberta Transportation standards and specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, and deliver high-quality technical reports.
- Willingness to travel within Canada and work in a fast-paced, collaborative consulting environment.
Compensation:AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400 - $102,500
MB & ON: $70,600 - $97,200
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $69,900 - $92,900
